Founded in 2022, La Caillerie Management is our company, and our start in the French landscape. We discovered the property Le Douet Fleury, in Livarot-Pays-d'Auge, in the same year and finally started making it a place for our guests in October of 2022. Our property is named according to the flowery stream that flows along the back of our ancient laundry washhouse--Le Douet Fleury. Our team has years of experience in hospitality and guest service and we look forward to making your holiday or vacation one to remember. Le Douet Fleury is a unique property, comprised of three joined buildings, each built in a different era. The first building is made of colombage, or half-timbered, and was erected around 1680, and currently houses our gîte, or vacation rental. While the outside of the half-timbered structure has been preserved, the interior is a mix of modern and antique, highlighted by the beautiful exposed beam ceiling in the bedroom. An ancient fireplace mantel adds to the ambiance of the space, though not a functional fireplace today. The second and third buildings are made of stone and brick, and will eventually house additional guest accommodations, including a second studio gîte (vacation rental), and four bed & breakfast rooms. This part of the house dates to the 1700's, and features high ceilings and tall windows. The remaining addition to the house was completed in the 1900's, to provide living accommodations for one of the shop fronts along the north side of the building. The property has a spacious garden with garden furniture during the warmer months (or upon request during the cooler months). At the rear of the garden is one of the last remaining private washhouses in the village of Livarot-Pays-d'Auge. Although currently not in operation today as a washhouse, it provides a lovely backdrop to the garden and a picturesque moment along the side of the stream. Nearby, a children's playground offers a place to expend some energy, including an outdoor ping pong table when using the paddles and balls provided in your accommodation. Next to that, you will find a city skate park and a small stadium with weekend soccer tournaments. Throughout the summer, our village hosts numerous festivals, generally the first weekend of each month. For this year's plans, please visit the Calvados Tourism website.

Livarot-Pays-d'Auge is one and the same with the cheese this village produces, at E. Graindorge Fromagerie. At the factory, just a five minute walk from our property, you can take a free self-guided tour of the factory and sample cheese in the gift shop at the end of your tour. The village is quite walkable, with many services located in the village, including restaurants, shops, grocery stores, tobacco/newspaper stores, a micro-brewery, a cidery, a local outdoor marché, and more. By car, it is possible to visit the well-known Normandy beaches, to see a part of history. There are many museums in the Normandy region dedicated to retelling what happened during the war. The option to follow the Route de Cidre by car, affords the opportunity to visit and taste local ciders. Many distilleries in the area produce Calvados, a world-famous apple brandy. A bit further out, around 2.5 hours by car, you can visit the world famous Mont Saint-Michel.
