Michouat is a traditional L-shaped Gascony farmhouse, with the family living in one side and the livestock and winter stores in the other. It remained a working farm until the end of the 1990’s when the barn side of the property was tastefully converted into a Pyrenees holiday Gîte [Guest House]. The facilities include a swimming pool, jacuzzi, hammock and private outdoor area, as well as access to the gardens of the property. Our Chambre D'Hotes has 2 rooms. The “Lavande” room sleeps up to 2 people (one double bed) with a private ensuite WC/Bathroom. The “Rose” Room can sleep up to 4 people (one double and one twin/double bed). The room has it's own private WC/Bathroom next door. We offer breakfast, bed linen, bathroom towels, selected toiletries, bottled water, hair-dair-dryer and bathrobes. A high chair and/or a cot are available.
We have been together for 14 years, many of them working in professional high pressure environments. When the opportunity arose for a different direction in life, we decided this was the gateway to do what we do best which is to provide great hospitality, spend the majority of the time living outdoors and to give visitors a fantastic holiday experience, all against the backdrop of a more tranquil way of life, meeting new people and embracing a new culture. Our aim is to treat guests as individuals in a relaxed atmosphere in beautiful surroundings and offer excellent cuisine if required.
The small village of Vidou is situated just 3.5 kilometres from the 13th century bastide market town of Trie sur Baïse, which offers all day to day requirements, with banks, bakers, supermarkets, restaurants, cafes, bars, butcheries, a pharmacy (chemist), doctors, dentists and tourist information bureau. A bustling market takes place every Tuesday morning. Trie has a varied programme of events including classical music concerts in the 13th century monastery, antique and night markets and a 4-day long fête in August, with a wide range of entertainment. The surrounding countryside offers spectacular scenery, walking, cycling, horse riding. There are many attractions in Midi-Pyrénées which can be visited within approximately one hour’s drive, ranging from outdoor sporting pursuits, the Parc National des Pyrénées, caves, castles, fortified churches and bastide towns to name a few. Places to visit for a day trip include Lourdes, Toulouse, Pau, the medieval town of Carcassonne, Biarritz, the Cirque de Gavarnie and the Pic du Midi to name just a few. An hour’s drive will take you and your party across the border and into Spain.
