This property offers access to a terrace, free private parking and free WiFi. The property is non-smoking and is set 39 km from Galway Greyhound Stadium. The guest house is fitted with a satellite flat-screen TV. Guests can take in the views of the mountain from the patio, which also has outdoor furniture. This accommodation is located by the lovely lake of Loughrea to the rear of the host's house by the lakeshore. It is private and peaceful, whilst being just 5 minutes walk from the town centre. All rooms are en suite and are bright and airy with tv, tea/coffee, mini-fridge, microwave and ironing facilities. The host is a keen gardener and guests are more than welcome to sit out and use the picnic/bbq area by the lake. There is private off street free parking. This property is very easy find as it is right beside the Police Station. Lakeside is also ideal for people attending weddings in Loughrea. St Brendan's Cathedral is just a few minutes walk away. The Loughrea Hotel and Spa is located just at the edge of the town distance - 1/2 mile (.8 km) The Meadow Court Hotel is located in the countryside, 3 miles (4.8 km) outside town. Cloghan Castle is located about 8 miles (13 km) from Loughrea. There is no problem in getting a taxi/hackney and numbers are available in Lakeside.
I give my guests space but am available when needed. I am a native to Loughrea and will gladly provide information on the locality. I speak French and German. I have a wide range of interests including gardening, heritage and horse racing.
Loughrea, a lively market town (population about 5,000), has a great selection of shops, pubs, restaurants and things to do and see. Loughrea in the Irish language can be translated as Baile Locha Riach which means Town of the Grey Lake. Loughrea people are very proud of their lake. The water quality is excellent. It is one of the few inland lakes to receive the Blue Flag award for its swimming facilities and is one of only 12 wild brown trout fisheries left in Europe. Facilities along its shores include picnic areas, fully accessible walkways, children's playgrounds, adults exercise area and tennis courts. The town itself was founded by the Normans in 1236. A number of medieval features still survive. The most significant is the town moat. This is the only functioning medieval moat in Ireland. Visitors can see it at its best in the beautiful linear park known as The Walks. The interior decoration of St Brendan's Cathedral took place during a time when there was a renewed interest in Celtic art. Its 26 stained glass windows are world renowned.
