I can’t say enough good thing about this facility. I will come back for more nights. The private onsen is so unreal, so good. Everyone took very good care of us. Kaiseki meal and service are top notch.

Ushiogumo is an oceanfront 7-room hot-spring hotel located a 0-minute walk from Kawazu Beach, and reopened in 2022 as a sister hotel of Gyokusui, which was established in 1914. It is also conveniently located just a 3-minute walk from Kawazu Station and 3 minutes from Kawazu Cherry Blossoms. Rooms: These retro-modern rooms were designed in the image of Japan's Taisho Era. All rooms are equipped with an outdoor hot spring bath with an ocean view. Coffee roasted by local coffee artisans, coffee mills, and chocolates are provided. Onsen: The temperature of the hot spring is controlled by a hot spring master, Yumori, who calculates the temperature, weather, and condition of the hot spring on any given day. In addition to the open-air baths in your room, we have a large men's bath, a large women's bath, and a private bath. Bath amenities are provided by our own brand, Yumoribito, which was developed in pursuit of compatibility with hot springs. Cuisine: Taking advantage of the convenient access to Kawazu Port, we use fresh seafood caught at the port. Dinner is a kaiseki meal served one dish at a time. Breakfast is a Western-style breakfast with Izu ingredients arranged in a Western style. We also pay attention to the unique Japanese tableware and presentation, offering dishes that can be enjoyed by both the eyes and the palate. Inside the building: The warmth of the wood and the Japanese culture are reflected in the dynamic atmosphere of the building, which is filled with ikebana and other flower arrangements. Ranma, single panel boards, impulse screens, and other antiques with a sense of precious history have been installed. The entrance and front desk are made using traditional Japanese craft techniques. Service: We provide services to enjoy Japanese culture and local nature. We provide shore excursion goods (selfie sticks, plastic sheets, cushions, and skin care spray) for exploring Kawazu beach, and colored yukata for women.
My name is Kumiko, the fifth Wakaokami of Ushiogumo and Gyokusui. Gyokusui was established in 1914 in Izu-Atugawa. Ushiogumo opened in 2022 as its sister hotel. Since our establishment in 1914, we have been operating our ryokan with a commitment to three things. The first is temperature control through Yumori. Yumori is a craftsman who controls the hot spring water. The temperature of a person's skin can vary from hot to warm just by one degree Celsius. In addition, the optimum temperature varies depending on the weather and temperature. In this day, many facilities manage their hot springs by machine. However, we calculate the condition of the hot spring, the temperature, and the weather, and manually manage the optimum temperature of the hot spring for our guests on any given day. Second, the cuisine is a feast for the eyes and the tongue. The “tongue” means using the freshest ingredients from Izu and the skill of the cook to deliver the best flavor. The "eye" means to enjoy the food in ways other than just the taste, by paying attention to the dishes and the way they are served. Thirdly, we want our guests to enjoy not only the inns, but also the culture and nature of the area. As a long-established business, we have an obligation not only to prosper ourselves but also to enhance the local community. For our guests, the time spent outside of their stay is part of their journey. Therefore, we prepare our guests to enjoy the nature and culture of Kawazu during their stay. For example, we lend out shore-walking goods so that guests can explore Kawazu Beach, which is right in front of the hotel. And we lend out colored yukata (summer kimono) and geta (wooden clogs) so that guests can stroll around the town of Kawazu wearing colored yukata, which is a part of Japanese culture. We also strive to provide our guests with a wealth of information on sightseeing and other activities in the surrounding area so that they can enjoy the area before check-in and after check-out.
Kawazu Nanadaru Waterfall Kawazu Nanadaru Falls (Nanadaru) is located about 10 minutes by car from Kawazu Station. You can visit seven waterfalls including Oodaru Falls. It is a representative geo-spot of Izu that has been certified as a World Geopark, where visitors can appreciate the columnar jointed formations as well as the dynamic waterfalls. There is also a wide variety of restaurants and eateries, including Kawazu Jaya. All of the seven waterfalls are located outdoors and involve steep slopes, so they are not recommended in bad weather. The tour time required depends on the number of waterfalls, but it takes about 2 hours to visit all of them. Recommended points of interest 1. Walking around the seven waterfalls, which are completely different in length, shape, columnar joint shape, and appearance! 2. You can enjoy both the topography, which is the history of the earth, and the culture, which is the history of human beings! 3. Feel the negative ions as you stroll through an ancient forest that has probably not changed in a long time! Hands-on Zoo "iZoo Located along Route 135, about 5 minutes by car from Kawazu Station on the Izu Kyuko Line. The park keeps animals not only outdoors but also indoors, so visitors can enjoy themselves even on rainy days. Visitors can also experience interacting with many reptiles. It would not be an exaggeration to say that this is the most popular facility in Izu at the moment. Recommended points 1. You can see and touch rare reptiles! 2. It is located along the national highway and is indoors, so you can enjoy it even on rainy, hot, or cold days! 3. You can watch valuable events such as animal races!
