Bhathiya and his wife Suzy returned from Mauritius in 2010 and decided to convert their property to a HOME STAY unit and named it The Kandyan Manor in February 2011. Then the property consisted of just three extra large rooms with attached en suit bathrooms. Sitting, Dinning and a cozy verandah. Bhathiya’s extreme talents in interior décor lead him to upgrade the Manor by adding three eco friendly chalets. His hands on hobby in interior decor has added much character to their home to make it the best place to unwind. Bhathiya, also called as Big B', the 5th generation property owner is talkative and friendly. He will talk about the history of the village and his ancestors with much enthusiasm. Suzy is has her own talents too in culinary, she enjoys baking, cooking and sewing. Both Big B & Suzy welcomes their guests with a home-made welcome drink using home grown fruit with the pick of the day. Our home is aproximatley a 10 minute drive to the city, 20 minute drive to the Royal Botanical Gardens, a five minute walk to a 400 year old village temple and the rice fields. A five minute walk to the public bus stop that will easily take you to the city in one go.

"Yatiwawala" our village is an ideal neighborhood to embark on a journey of discovery at dawn to observe the reawakening of village and natural life alike. You can stroll down enticing jungle byways, through the green paddy fields, see the buffalo ploughing the field or threshing the harvest, as the season demands. Along the way you will see many different spices thriving in their natural element- goraka, nutmeg, cinnamon, cardamom, coffee, cocoa and black pepper, many varieties of fruit and timber tress native to the shrub jungle. Visit the 400 (over) year old Buddhist temple The Sri Rajasingharamaya, meet our high knowledgeable head of the temple ( Loku Hamuduruwo), stop and take a break at the "Ambalama", a place of shelter built by ancient kings for travelers to pass through the night and for traders from different localities to exchange goods and build on friendships.
