Set within a fortress which dates back to the permanence of the Knights of St. John on the Maltese islands. Right on top of Mgarr Harbour, this Fort manages to achieve the much-desired harmonisation of ‘the old’ with ‘the new’. The original outer bastions, the barracks of the Knights and the English barracks, the bakery and the chapel built by the Knights’ with their famous cross embellished on the façade (known by many as the ‘Maltese Cross’), serve as a backdrop of ‘the old’ which effectively highlights the contradictory modern facilities that imbue a sense of bygone days.
