We are happy to receive you in our holiday homes in Oostmahorn, Friesland, Netherlands. We have been renting our cottages since 1994. We are a friendly german-Peruvian family who is happy to help you with everything. House rules: -Sunday check-in not available. - Check-in time: earliest arrival time 15:00 -Fishing license price: 15 Eur per week. - Well behaved pets are welcome. For a dog, we charge 5,00 Eur per day. Dogs must be registered in advance. -Barbecue is allowed. -Smoking in the house leads to loss of security deposit.

‘Heide’ is situated in a small bungalow park (De Skâns), next to the old stronghold of Oostmahorn. From the dike you can enjoy spectacular sights over the National Park Lauwersmeer. A beautiful beach is just a couple of hundreds of meters away and the North Sea coast is just a five minute drive. Pets are welcome in house ‘Heide’. (Features:) House ‘Heide’ is fully furnished for a holiday with 6 people. Two of the three bedrooms (one with a balcony) are upstairs, the master bedroom, the living area and the fully equipped kitchen are located on the ground floor. The living area has a direct access to the terrace and the surrounded garden. The house itself is well insulated and even at tropical temperatures, it stays cool inside. (Outdoor area:) The terrace of ‘Heide’ is equipped with garden furniture, a parasol and a barbecue. The property is fenced to the water and therefore suitable for children. Behind the house is a wide, fish-rich ditch. Rudd, eels, carp are caught here regularly. Parking is possible at the front side of the property. (Distinctive features:) There is wifi, a tv and a washing machine available and baby cot and high chair are available on request.

Oostmahorn is an old stronghold at the at the western side of the Lauwerslake with a rich history, dating back to the sixteenth century. Nowadays it’s a very pleasant tourist destination at the National Park Lauwersmeer, hosting several holiday resorts. The lake itself and the direct surroundings are a true paradise for nature lovers, fisherman, bird watchers, water sports enthusiasts, cyclists and hikers. Dogs are more than welcome here as well. There’s a special beach and a forest for them at Lauwersoog. Within a couple of hundreds of meters there are several playgrounds for children. At the beach, in the small resort ‘De Skâns’ and in Esonstad - which is a holiday resort build as a replica of a typical old Frysian city. In Esonstad you’ll even find a bouncy castle and an indoor playing hall and one can play golf and foot golf here at the local Pitch & Putt area. Renting a bicycle or e-chopper is also possible here. In Esonstad you can easily do your daily groceries (a bigger supermarkt is just a couple of kilometers away in Anjum) or find a restaurant, pizzeria or a snackbar. Another three restaurants are even closer to your holiday house. Some of them offer spectacular lake views. Other good options to enjoy the local seafood cuisine are the sea harbor of Lauwersoog at the northern side of the lake, the old fishing village of Zoutkamp at the eastside of the lake or at Dokkum, the most northern fortified city of Friesland. To discover the National Park from the waterside you could bring your own boat or surf gear but there are boats and sailing boats for rent as well at ‘Paviljoen La Barca’. A boat-tour, or seal expedition can be booked around the corner and a ferry to the beautiful island of Schiermonnikoog, with it’s many miles of sandy beaches, is leaving from Oostmahorn as well. With the title Dark Sky Park, in Lauwersmeer National Park you can truly experience nature in the dark!
