A warm and friendly welcome from your Kiwi hosts Barb & Geoff and their dog Pepper. After a great night sleep in their luxury king beds with ensuites, a home grown and baked breakfast -if you book- to send you on to your next adventure. We look forward to you staying with us, please choose carefully as cancellations are very inconvenient because we are a small business we may lose other bookings.
Barb is a much traveled and very experienced in the world of hospitality.
Geoff has retired from a lifetime of many occupations including owning a number businesses. He now keeps himself busy growing vegetables and tending the property. Having worked and traveled throughout NZ he has lots of knowledge on places of interest and road or driving conditions.
Barbs Place is located in the centre of the Waipara Valley which is the premier wine producing area of the greater Christchurch region. The valley boasts a number of wineries open for tastings specializing in; Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and a variety of Rieslings, there are of course many others on offer. The valley also has a number of wineries offering superb lunches, from simple pizzas and platters through to the award winning Pegasus Bay Winery for the very best of everything.
We have a vintage steam train that runs regular trips, a sculpture park that has been created by a local artist and is an outstanding place to visit. Lots of scenic drives, rivers and beaches.
Less than 1 hours drive from Hanmer Springs and about 1 hour+ 30min from Kaikoura so a very central location.
