The house in which you will be accommodated was built in 1898 and renovated in 2019. It is built from the surrounding gray stone, which was carved by the hands of our ancestors. A typical old fireplace is preserved in the house, which was called "black kitchen" on which housewives cooked. In the upper rooms, they had bedrooms and a seating area. They had a small outside bathroom near the house. Food was processed by themselves, and fresh water was obtained from a well located near the house. Our old parents lived in this house, who were trying to survive from day to day with two young children. One of these was my father, who was born in this house.
There were many domestic animals in the stable. The most important animal in each village was a bull called "Boškarin", which was the replacement of today's agricultural machines.
The house is renovated in an old style, and is preserved with original pieces of furniture. We have renewed it for you in the hope that you will feel comfortable and spend here beautiful moments of your vacation. Welcome and enjoy the hinterland of Slovenian Istria!
We are a young family with two children who enjoys living in a natural environment away from the city. We want to live healthy and create a pleasant environment for our children. In our free time we also work on viticulture and produce smaller quantities of different varieties of home-made wine. With careful care of olive trees, we create excellent extra virgin olive oil. We also produce homemade fruits and vegetables that are typical of this area of Istria. Come visit us and get to know the hospitality of people in our village.
Popetre is a small village situated in the hinterland of Slovenian Istria. It is surrounded by vineyards and olive groves and numerous walking trails. You can walk along the forest paths where you listen to the sound of trees and the singing of various birds. The forest paths lead you to an old mill on the river below the village and to many waterfalls nearby. Village is built according to the typical Istrian architecture. Stone houses show the past of our old parents. There are also many new houses built after the First World War. In the village there is also a small church and many wells in almost every homestead. Under the house there is a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and cultivated fields. The area where you will be staying is very quiet and suitable for hikers and cyclists. Relaxing moments can be spent under the olive trees when reading your favorite book or having a romantic picnic in the beatiful nature.
