Company information
The current owners, John & Marsha Speer, purchased the Lodge in 2017. In their previous careers John was a financial executive with a large public manufacturing company and Marsha's career focused on customer service while raising two boys. Although they did not have backgrounds in hospitality, they both have a passion for travel and whenever they traveled they often looked to stay in unique small Inns and B&B’s. They often found that meeting Innkeepers and other guests made their experience more enriching and memorable. Over the years their desire grew to one day own and operate an Inn themselves. Their search took them three years and after visiting over 20 properties in six states they finally fell in love with the Lazy Bear Lodge and the surrounding area.

We want their stay to be the best Bed & Breakfast experience they have ever had by providing a comfortable stay and helping them create wonderful lasting memories."
Property information
Lazy Bear Lodge is an “All Seasons” bed and breakfast retreat situated in the North Carolina Mountains of Valle Crucis. The Lodge is a custom built five-bedroom modern log cabin perched on a mountainside overlooking spectacular vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains and valley below. We are centrally located and only minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone, Blowing Rock, and Banner Elk. Guests relax in the common areas where a wood burning double sided fireplace graces both the Great Room and Dining Room to create a warm and friendly atmosphere for socializing or simply relaxing. Both of these rooms have full length windows and doors that access the back veranda with ample seating to enjoy the surrounding beauty of
mountains, forest, gardens and abundant wildlife.

Our guests come from all around the world to explore our paradise in the Blue Ridge Mountains. They come to hike, ski, cycle, white water raft, fish, horse back ride, golf, zip line, shop, visit wineries & breweries, dine at many excellent restaurants in the area or explore local attractions such as, Grandfather Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway, Linville Falls, Linville Caverns, Blowing Rock, Original Mast General Store, art festivals, music festivals, Appalacian State University activities, etc. Some just come to get some rest & relaxation at the Lazy Bear Lodge!
