I arrived much later than anticipated because my car broke down. I called to let them know that I would be arriving late and the manager told me he would be there until 10. I got there at 9:30 and there was no one to be found. It was snowing that night and maybe he decided to go home earlier but he should have called me to let me know.
On my last night there, I needed to use the microwave and it was dirty. I used it anyway because I had nothing to clean it with. I pointed it out politely to the lady at the office and she mumbled something which I didn’t understand but clearly she was annoyed with me. In other places, the employee of the hotel would have said something like: “thank you for pointing it out to me. I will take care of it!” Prior to that, I had asked her an unrelated question and she was less than friendly. Maybe she was having a bad day but if not, she really is in the wrong business. Apart from that, the place was very clean and quiet.

Here’s an updated review:
Fantastic Stay with Incredible Service and Amenities!
I recently stayed at the Trailside Inn, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my experience. The inn combines rustic charm with modern comfort, making it the perfect getaway for anyone looking to unwind or explore the area. The rooms were spotless, cozy, and well-equipped.
The game room was a fantastic bonus—perfect for relaxing evenings with friends or family. Whether it was playing games or just enjoying the laid-back vibe, it added so much fun to our stay. The lounge area was equally wonderful, with a large TV and a beautiful fireplace that created a warm and inviting atmosphere. It was the perfect spot to relax after a day of outdoor activities.
What made the stay even more memorable was the incredible staff. They were genuinely friendly and incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.
The Trailside Inn is truly a gem, offering everything you could want in a mountain retreat. I can’t wait to come back and would highly recommend it to anyone!
Located in Pittsfield, 11 miles from Killington Peak, Clear River Inn and Tavern provides accommodations with a shared lounge, free private parking, a restaurant and a bar.
Perfect for rustic breaks in the countryside, an Inn is a small property with basic hotel services and typically traditional decor. Inns are fully licensed and have a bar providing food and drinks in the evening – distinguishing them from country or guest houses.
Our innkeeper was especially good to us. Check-in went smoothly. Our room met all of our needs and we especially enjoyed the large bathtub. The breakfast was yummy, too! We loved the landscaping!
We stayed in Rutland for two nights, before and after the total eclipse of the sun. Many hotels in the vicinity of Plattsburgh, New York {where we viewed the eclipse} had been booked many months in advance, and many had greatly increased their prices for dates near this event. The Comfort Inn had a decent breakfast that was included.
Good place, easy and convenient to join.
We arrived at Rutherland railway station in the evening and went to inn on walk without much labor.
Breakfast was good and plentiful.
We showed up a little early, but our room was ready so we were able to check in early. Melissa at the front desk was really nice and she also had great recommendations about restaurants for dinner.
The breakfast is great as well, lots of variety from savory to sweet. We didn't have time to try the indoor pool or the hot tub but next time we come in the area I won't forget my swim suit. The room and bathroom were clean and spacious and the bed comfortable. I'd stay there in a heartbeat.
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Good location, close to both skiing at Killington and dinner options in Rutland.
Breakfast hours are also great for skiing, i.e., starting early at 6:30 am. Food was mostly ok.
Did not have breakfast at Inn
Loved the room, pool
