A lovely hotel with very helpful staff. We enjoyed the refreshments in the lobby and the beautiful rooftop bar. The breakfast buffet was spectacular.

Barceloneta Beach
This ancient theater is the jewel in the Syracusan crown. It dates all the way back to the 5th century BC and was used by the great playwright Aeschylus to stage some of his most beloved tragedies. Carved out of the rocky hillside, it used to hold up to 16,000 theatergoers on its semi-circular steps. Head there in spring to catch a classical play, and imagine the scenes all those years ago, as tragic actors prowled the stage and audiences wept and wailed at the heart-wrenching action and drama.

The beach is adjacent to the city and was not very clean.
The beach is adjacent to the city and was not very clean. It was crowded and we saw trash in the water and on the beach. The day after it rained, the beaches were closed due to unhealthy/hazardous conditions.

Avoid, head the other side just after port Olympic. Mostly local people, really friendly, nice bars, half price and way less “hypsters, great beachvolley, easy contact, friendly local people, you can leave your clothes an sunscreens or sunglasses.. whereas in Barcelonetta : wellyou will be just another tourist.

Consider renting a locker as the beach is fairly high...
Consider renting a locker as the beach is fairly high traffic. There are small convenience stores across the street if you need tanning lotion. You may also find it much cheaper to buy your own beer and drinks there. Vendors will stroll buy offering mojitos, massages, and towels. Haggle with them! If you don't like the offer, find another vendor. Most require cash. Be warned, many pretend not to carry change and will instead offer you a "deal" to make up the difference with more drinks. Don't settle for a towel for more than 15 euros, possibly less if you have the patience.

Great beach. Sometimes over crowded.
Great beach. Sometimes over crowded. Annoying massage ladies and men trying to sell anything. Never pay the price for what they are asking for. The big beach sheets they try to sell for 15€. Real price is 3€. Bargan down to 8€. Never buy their mojitos. Esp for 5€. They are worth 1€. No need to be afraid. Its not as bad as I'm writing but just these things can happen. Just enjoy the beach and watch your stuff. 👍🙂

Very authentic and full-of-history "boating" experience in the very heart of Barcelona. Southern Cross anchors near Barceloneta beach and Maremagnum shopping centre in the territory of Reial Club Nàutic de Barcelona. It is only accessible through a guarded checkpoint. Optimal for a short, adventure-seeking experience. The crew is easy to communicate with. The boat is very clean. You fall asleep while gently floating. The breakfast is OK. Ask for a VIP cabin.
