Right on Monastiraki Square, just steps from Monastiraki Flea Market, 360 Degrees features a roof bar- restaurant with panoramic views of the city and the Acropolis.

Breakfast was amazing and had an amazing view of the Acropolis. Rooms were very comfortable. Staff was super helpful. One of our party was limited mobility and everyone was very accommodating and helpful. Location was very central. There is a hop stop bus stop right outside the hotel.

Conveniently set in the center of Athens, BED in Athens provides free WiFi throughout the property and a terrace.

Staff went above and beyond to help. They were able to provide early check in (which I didn't expect) and stored luggage for my group of 5 for several hours even though only 1 person was staying at the hotel. Clean, comfortable. Hot shower.

Ancient Agora of Athens

Even though our worlds are divided by centuries, the ancient Greeks weren't all that different from us. They still liked to go out, meet up, and do a little shopping – and they did that at public squares known as agoras. The Ancient Agora of Athens was more than just a market and meeting place though. This was the cultural and political heart of the ancient city, and excavations have uncovered a treasure trove of artifacts and chambers that bring the reality of living in ancient Greece right into the present day.

The Agora compound is immense with several important structures that provide good information about not only the Agora but also other important Athens sites, and the history of the removal of the Elgin Marbles. Although I visited with another adult, I think the Agora is one of the better sites to visit with children as there is ample open space to explore. Processing of botanical samples from recent (ongoing?) excavation by Boston University was underway during my visit. Unfortunately, no information was available about the research goals or preliminary findngs from this project on site, although the work was taking place in plain sight - a missed opportunity to educate visitors about archaeological research, how we know what took place in the past, and international research collaboration.

    Very interesting and large!

Very interesting and large! You can wander among the ancient sites. Look for the water clock, the temple at the top of the hill and many statues. There was a small museum and the entire site was a park-like setting with the freedom to wander about with very little blocked off. We liked it and spent about 3 hours there.

Everyone knows about the Acropolis but I would definitely recommend taking an hour to walk around the Ancient Agora. If going, download Rick Steve's free audioguide app which explains everything and gives the whole tour a much experience!
