We stayed in the Printing Press building and we were very happy with our stay. The apartment was exceptionally clean and comfortable and the shower had great pressure (so relaxing after spending all day sightseeing)! The hotel staff were also very kind, knowledgeable and helpful. We felt very lucky to have picked this place as the location was very convenient-very close to the bus stop where tours do pick up. We are looking forward to staying here again! Thank you!!

This was a fantastic two night stop over in Iceland, something we have been meaning to do for quite sometime. The hotel and staff were fantastic, with a special shout out for Martin and Andrew. Clean, tasteful and comfortable. The only issue with the property was the difficulty in parking.
Newly renovated during the spring of 2023, Hotel Local 101 is an independent hotel quietly tucked away in the heart of downtown Reykjavik, on a charming street made up of classical Icelandic homes.

Cleanliness, cozy, warm. Really enjoyed the room but to be honest we stayed very little in the room as we were on full day trips every day. Breakfast was great and healthy!

Great location, just a 5–10 minute walk to bars and restaurants. We stayed in a corner room with stunning views of the city and bay. which got even better at night! The room itself was exceptional—spacious, stylish, and well-equipped. The bathroom was beautifully with high-end finishes, while the main area included a cozy sofa sitting space. The bed was large and comfortable, with a variety of pillows to choose from.
Amenities were excellent: coffee and tea-making facilities, a wine fridge, and a TV with a Bluetooth-enabled sound system for music. The room also had a desk and plenty of conveniently placed power sockets. The overall design felt premium, with solid wood flooring, sleek cabinetry, and a mix of concrete, glass, and marble in the bathroom. We also had a superb breakfast served to in the room. The service was excellent.
We didn’t spend much time in the shared area, but it featured a beautifully designed space with stunning views, comfortable seating, and an honesty bar stocked with a great selection of drinks and snacks. No pool or gym available but this was not important to us on this trip.
A fantastic stay - 9/10!

It's a great starting point for your stay in Reykjavik/Iceland, being a nice mix of hotel and hostel. You can potentially meet other traveller here, but also have space to yourself that you don't have to share. There are several bus stops and highlights of the city in walking distance. The kitchen is very neat if you want to warm up some supermarket food, check in/out ist super easy, there is a hot tub, you can easily store your luggage, it's stylish and kind of fun to stay in a hub ... great place for a couple of nights.

Everything opens on the later side. So don’t rush getting up early to shop. You can enjoy getting up leisurely and even sleeping in a bit. Then find a good parking a walk around everywhere in town. We stay on this street so it was very convenient. Perfect actually!

A mix of the mundane and eclectic.
A mix of the mundane and eclectic. Certainly the main shopping tourist strip and worth it to walk its length and get a feel for urban Iceland before encountering the awesome natural landscapes of Iceland.
Expensive for day to day commodities but that's standard throughout the country.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at Downtown Guesthouse Reykjavik. The location is absolutely fantastic—right in the heart of the city, just steps from Lækjartorg Square and the Laugavegur shopping street. It’s perfect for exploring Reykjavik on foot, with restaurants, bars, and tour pick-up points all within easy reach. Wi-Fi worked perfectly throughout our stay, and the self check-in process was smooth and convenient.

Loads of trendy bars for pub crawls on Laugavegur (and on the streets just off it). Kaffibarinn is the place the hipsters go late at night for craft beers and cocktails if that's your thing, likewise Lebowski. Dillon Whiskey Bar is a real cool dive with good beers and a very relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of friendly locals around to help you out.
