One of the best staff and services. Rooms were clean and quick assistance was provided. Breakfast options were great even for vegetarians

The property was a beautiful, relaxed garden and a wonderful breakfast. Getting to the property was challenging as I did not realize how difficult it would be to drive to and park. If traveling without a car, I would highly recommend it.
Welcome to this palace that is your home. Here, where history stays for tomorrow, we do everything we can to honor your preference, and turn your dreams into an unforgettable journey.
Built in the 19th century, this luxurious 5-star hotel is surrounded by a sub-tropical garden on a hilltop overlooking the Tagus River. It has an expansive spa and indoor and outdoor pools.

We came on a Monday as it was advertised on google as being open, when we arrived it was closed! We spoke to some of the staff from the maritime museum and they explained it’s been an ongoing issue for some time now with tourists coming and just finding out it’s been closed when they already took the time and effort to travel there. The staff said they’ve been flagging it up for a long time that the information online is wrong to the monastery(but apparently they don’t care about wasting the time and money of people). It tells you a lot about a place if they don’t have any courtesy.

A must see architectural wow!!
A must see architectural wow!! We happened to visit while a concert was going on. To see and hear the organ being played while taking in all the artwork and history of the interior of the church was an unexpected highlight. Walk across the square to Belem Tower, but be sure to stop and take in the view of the monastery at several vantage points. It's particularly stunning as the sun blesses the monestery at sunset.

very long waiting time in the sun (watch out for getting sunburned) It was about 2 hours to wait even with the Lisboa card. On the site from the Lisboa card it said it was a skip the line ticket but it is not. Inside the Monastery is pretty but I don't think it is worth waiting 2 hours, you are in and out in 10 minutes. You only see a very small part of the monastery whereas on the outside it is a massive building....

This is a wonderful and fascinating monastery but we had to queu over an hour to get into the cloisters and then had to queu again to get into the church, which was really disappointing. We arrived about 11 and it was much less busy when we left at 2.30 so try going later in the day.

This place open at 9.30am, get there for around 9.10am ish for nice photo opportunity outside the monastery. Going early avoid the big queue outside and also once inside enjoy the surrounding without crowded people around.

Worth the visit! Go early to avoid lines and crowds.
Worth the visit! Go early to avoid lines and crowds. And remember to get your fresh from oven nata (custard) from the local bakery famed for the secret recipe monks used. No joke, we probably made the trip here for that as much as the monastery.
