It was absolutely in a perfect peaceful farm-like jungle setting - away from the crowds and business. It was only a few minutes within walking distance to the beach. The property had a wonderful pool for swimming and relaxing. Also, hammocks were setup in various areas to enjoy at different times in the day. The location was very close to shopping or site-seeing by car. We had the pleasure of hearing howler monkeys - sometimes close and in the distance. One morning, we had a parade of monkeys (howlers), like 20 it seemed, passing through the tree-tops in the yard. The whole troop were quiet as mice. We also had iguanas of all sizes passing by our cabina. The hosts welcomed us with delicious homemade bread for us to enjoy in the morning.

Outstanding experience! The room was spotless and the ocean views spectacular. The delicious breakfast and coffee served by the staff was excellent and gave our day a jumpstart. We used the shortened trail to Montezuma Falls provided by the hotel to have a special day at the falls. You will not be disappointed!

Very comfortable and large room. We were able to do a little cooking. Ideally located to see the various sights of the southern Nicoya peninsula. Loved the Curu Refugio

We enjoyed our time at Calala Lodge, it is very beautiful and we loved how small the whole facility is. However, in the amenities list online it said there was air conditioning but it was really just a stand up fan. It ended up being fine and we turned it off every morning around 5 am but would have appreciated a cool place to go back to after returning to the lodge. The “mini bar” included one glass water bottle that we would have appreciated to get refilled everyday as there was daily housekeeping. The cabins are great otherwise, beds are comfortable and the scenery is amazing!

It's a very beautiful place with a jungly garden, where animals come and go. I saw many birds, iguanas, monkeys, etc. The kitchen is well equipped and always clean. There's a ton of activities that they offer. It's outside of the main area, so some sort of vehicle is necessary to move around, in exchange, it's calm and green. The host can help to set you up with a vehicle.

Great little place, our room was nice, but the bed was very uncomfortable. Close to the beach and eateries.

The area is very beautiful. Paquera is only a few minutes away by car. So it's easy to reach restaurants and supermarkets. Also the Curu reserve is just around the corner (about 10min by car). And the host was very helpful and nice. Nothing to complain about. Highly recommended!!
