The host, Akira San was kind & very hospitable. He made us feel very welcome.
The dining/lounge area is very cosy & Akira always has lovely music playing from his extensive jazz collection.
The breakfast was excellent. Amihari & Iwate ski resorts are both only a few minutes drive away. The rooms are very comfortable & the Onsen style bath was just perfect after a day's skiing.
Providing city views, Appi Arts Color in Hachimantai provides accommodation, free bikes, a garden, a shared lounge, a restaurant and ski-to-door access.
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
The lodge is walking distance to the ski resort and the food is delicious for both breakfast and dinner. Free shuttle was offered to and from the ski resort (but I walked since as it was not snowing and I needed the warm up stroll). Refreshing trip.
Super friendly staff. A bit hard to communicate ahead of the stay but we finally understood there’s not really a storage area inside the lodge for bags. We came up on the morning bus from Morioka to Appi Kogen and wanted to ski that same day. There are big and small lockers at the resort day lodge (“Appi Plaza”).
Little private bath (“onsen”) inside the lodge is extra charge and not included by default.
Owners drive to ski resort in the morning (8am-9am) and back in the afternoon (4pm-5pm) free of charge.
The Lodge owner provided a very good service and show sincere hospitality. Every morning she drove me to the ski centre. She also drove me b@ack to her Lodge at end of my snowboarding. One thing I must say the dinners they provide is really good. You should try when you stay there. I really enjoyed staying there.
