The owner was very kind. I texted her a day earlier as it was snowing and we needed a taxi to go to Kuju ski center. And she booked for us! We were so thankful.

With the limited accommodation available in the area it was Ok. Lots of space compared to other rooms in Japan. No where to eat in the area. The kitchenette might have been useful if it had any utensils?!. Just 4 cups & a kettle.
The western beds are very hard. Handy tip.. pop the Japanese mat on to bed under the sheet for a very comfy bed.
The breakfast was traditional Japanese and plentiful. Good coffee.

The husband and wife team running this property is amazing. Their breakfast was prepared and served with pride, and attention to detail. I love the little touches in their tea room. A piano, shelves of books and interesting paraphernalia all contribute to a wonderful homey British countryside vibe. The vast space outside the property includes a hammock and an observatory. The owner is happy to bring you to explore the stars at 8pm there. Our teens had great fun there.
We are an entourage of 7 including an elderly who ocassionally uses the wheelchair. We didnt find it hard to get around the property. We love the space of the bedrooms and the privacy of this whole compound. Also love the private onsen where you had to walk just 2 min out(still within the compounds) and you have the whole place to yourself for 50 minutes i think? It was basic but comforting. Just the thing to unwind to after a long day driving around. Booking required.
Please note the dinner has to be booked 2 days in advance. We forgot about it and regretted since the breakfast was so yummy.
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
This is my favourite place to stay. You will need a car and if you do, it is so worth it. The lodge is located in a beautiful area. It is quiet, comfortable and cosy. At night you can hear the owls and see the stars. The breakfast is clean, healthy and delicious. This is better than any five star hotel. There is even a private bath to soak in. The owner takes great pride in the place and prepares his meals with care and attention. I am so glad we stayed here for 4 nights. If we come to Aso again, I will not stay anywhere else.
Felt like a retro ski lodge, very spacious, beautiful area, need a car to stay here. It had its own private onsen which was lovely. Well signed to find, good locking system on door so no need for a key and details of self checkin sent before we arrived.
