Wizzy and John are terrific people who bring you into their family and make you feel at home. The horse riding and hiking are great!
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
Grounds are magnificent with plenty of activities at the hotel and close proximity to amazing safaris. Rolling hills with the stunning Mount Kenya in the background combined with roaming wildlife and activities make the hotel worth staying at for at least part of the trip rather than spending all day at safaris.
It was so tranquil - ideal for chilling out, reading or writing, as I was doing
The staff are super helpful and make what you fancy to eat to order
You can arrange a hike on the mountain or a local safari. I spoiled myself with a day pass to Mount Kenya Safari Club to visit the animal orphanage and swim.
Purity's Jack Daniels Cocktail by the fire was great.
Good and reasonably priced acomodation with waterhole in front of most tents, good restaurant, swimming pool. Very good point to start self drive safaris in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, however we found western areas 7 - 10 km behind the bridge, along the river the most interesting.
The huts in circle lodge are incredible cute, romantic and probably the perfect getaway for a couple. In the evening they were also very nice to light a fire (in the area by the kitchen) which was very nice and cozy.
