Our accommodation was clean, spacious and very well appointed. The location was quiet and convenient. We appreciated the use of the washer and dryer and enjoyed visiting the chickens.

Very quiet location, sheep friendly. Had everything you need. Owner's very friendly.
Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.
We only stayed here 1 night but wish we spent more time here. Amazing food (the dinner is 100% worth it!), super friendly staff, beautiful views with deer right outside, comfortable bed, amazing amenities. Honestly one of the best hotels/lodges I have stayed at.
We stayed in the lodge rather than the tree houses. Fantastic accommodation with wonderful attention to detail, and great facilities such as a large spa bath, gas fireplace. Breakfast and dinner were included, and these were excellent. Great views back towards the kaikoura range, and a 15 minute walk will get you down to the beach for more fabulous views. The Lodge arranged whale watching for us, and were very helpful in answering any queries we had. Would definitely stay again.
What I was most impressed with was that we arrived very late as a result of a delay with the Wellington - Picton Ferry. Having communicated with the team at Hapuku Lodge and knowing we weren't arriving to very late the team prepared a lovely anti pasto for our enjoyment upon arrival - most appreciated!
