We were three families together for a Christmas stay, 11 people in total. There was more than plenty space and comfort for us all. My personal highlights were the spectacular location and view, the way the kitchen was so well appointed with plenty of everything, the crisp linen, the friendly staff who came and serviced the house to make our stay relaxing, and the beautiful game drive between the road and the house. We all loved Amberley!

We had a pleasant drive from Johannesburg to Dullstroom on Friday afternoon. Our late arrival was seamless, as the host was promptly available to assist with the remote check-in process. The Hangar is a cozy room situated behind a hangar next to a private airstrip, offering unobstructed views of lush greenery, tranquil waters, and serene dams. The estate's security is exceptional, and the residents were incredibly friendly. We enjoyed leisurely walks throughout the estate without any restrictions. The hotel on the premises was convenient for both dinner and breakfast, with exemplary staff providing outstanding service. . However, this minor inconvenience didn’t detract from our experience, as we enjoyed a delightful picnic at one of the many scenic spots on the estate. Overall, The Hangar at Walkersons Estate offers a peaceful and picturesque getaway, perfect for relaxation and nature lovers.

The host, Simon, was extremely helpful and the one or two issues we had were dealt with quickly and efficiently. It was very cold, but the living area of the lodge is well equipped for such weather and the electric blankets on the beds were lifesavers! Massive trout in the dams, since it is catch and release only, so a fisherman's dream. The town is also easily accessible for a bit of shopping/lunch etc.

All the comforts of home in an extremely well-appointed and stylish house. Lovely details: candles, a cut-glass decanter of sherry awaiting us, very comfortable beds and bedding. Lovely kitchen. And a charming and efficient helper. Our son even caught a handsomely-sized trout in the dam! Ambassador Lodge pulled out all the stops. We felt cocooned during our stay.

The house was in a spectacular location with beautiful scenery and amazing hiking trails. We will definitely come back here again and stay for a bit longer. If you look for a quiet getaway in a serene setting, this is the place to go. The main lodge is stunning and the breakfast was really good, staff there was very warm and friendly.

My third time at African Leaves Trout Lodge in the Oak House. Again it was absolutely fantastic. The decor in the house is tastefully done, quality of beds and linen is very good. The staff always friendly and keen to assist. The landscape is out of this world...we will defnitely return.

The friendly owners and the remoteness and well maintained area around the lodges. The lovely fire in the lounge after fishing in the rain.
