With garden views, Makuwa Safari Lodge is set in Mbabat and has a restaurant, a tour desk, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace.

We celebrated our second wedding anniversary at Makuwa Safari Lodge, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Breakfast was an absolute delight — each morning felt like something out of a dream. Simone prepared the most flavourful, beautifully plated meals with so much love and creativity. From the fresh fruit to the hearty warm dishes, everything was thoughtfully crafted and delicious. It was honestly one of the best lodge breakfasts and dinners we've ever had! The location is simply breathtaking. Nestled in a peaceful, private setting surrounded by nature, the lodge offered the perfect escape from the everyday rush. It’s serene, safe, and filled with those little quiet moments that let you truly relax, reconnect, and breathe. A heartfelt thank you to Simone and Morne for their warm hospitality and attention to detail. As a special surprise for our anniversary, they gifted us a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine, which made the celebration feel even more meaningful. The staff also went above and beyond to make our room feel romantic and welcoming, from chocolates on our pillows to petals on the bed shaped into a heart. Every little touch made us feel celebrated and cared for. We left with full hearts, happy memories, and a deep sense of gratitude. Makuwa Safari Lodge will always hold a special place in our story — we can’t wait to return!

Located in Mbabat, Timbavati Safari Lodge offers accommodation in thatched chalets with colourful traditional African design like the huts of the Ndebele Tribe.

Breakfast was good, as was the coffee. Reasonably priced lodge amongst a sea of ridiculously exorbitantly priced game lodges.

With garden views, African Sky Bush Camp is situated in Rabalias Gate and has a restaurant, room service, bar, garden and year-round outdoor pool.

A beautiful, authentic bush camp in a glorious setting surrounded by bushland and wildlife. Barry, Wendy and their 2 young children were wonderful hosts. We had a delicious BBQ in the evening served under the stars around a camp fire. The beds and ensuite bathrooms were fine. After an extensive full English breakfast we said our good byes in washed car, what a service! Thank you Barry and Wendy for an unforgettable stay!

Tranquil lodge, with great staff and management. Giraffe, zebra, monkeys, impala all visited! Food was good- a different vegetarian meal for us each day. Lodge activities were well organised and good value for money. Room was comfortable and very clean. I would happily return here

With garden views, Sunbirds Oasis Lodge is set in Hoedspruit and has a restaurant, a shared kitchen, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace.

When you say oasis, your mind will blend you in a picture about water and lush vegetation. That place can proudly carry that name. Once you are in the pool you are not willing to come out. The owner is really caring about every corner of the property. Exquisite sitting decks for animal viewing, gorgeous outdoor gym, cosy saunas, hot tub, outside bar. Overwhelming aesthetic in the restaurant, quality food, an ambiance that you feel welcomed because they take a time to decorate. I adored the lights in the night, the trees are old and majestic. One of the most beautiful garden what I visited. Couldn't stop watching the ostriches who waited in front of our bedroom in the morning and later pulled down the cushions from the loungers as they were cleaning as all others in the morning 🤣It was sad to be there just for one night but that place will stay in my ❤️ forever

Breakfast was wonderful, tasty and carefully prepared by Simone. She is a great chef and puts effort into the preparation and presentation of the meals. The lodge is conveniently located between Blyde River and the Orpen gate. The management couple, Morne and Simone, is very friendly and top class hosts. Simone packed an amazing breakfast on our departure morning (5am).

This stay was incredible, Simone and Morne made my trip to Kruger so easy and enjoyable, from the packed lunches to the homemade dinners and chats I couldn’t recommend this lodge more. They really make it special, I booked this last minute not really knowing what to expect but I’m so so glad I did! Went as a solo traveller and it was perfect!

On the way to Makuwa safari lodge welcomed by a leopard couple we found a true chef in Simone and two decades of safari knowledge in Morne in an amazing place. Lions roaring at the campfire in the evening, delicious dinner and breakfast plus the service of Prince as a personal guide in Kruger.

The hosts Simone & Morne are amazing. They are welcoming and very caring. They gave us great recommendations, organized different safaris and were always there to help. The food at the lodge was prepared with love and it was delicious, from breakfast to dinner! We can also recommend the bush walk they are offering - Morne has great knowledge of the area, animals, and plants. It was lots of fun to explore the bush with him! Thank you for the unforgettable experience!

What a great place run by lovely people. Simone and Morne are amazing hosts who made us very welcome. The lodge location is beautiful with impal greeting us as we arrived. The food and service were fantastic. Morne gave us great advice for our self drive safari in the Kruger and Simone made a fantastic dinner. We really enjoyed sitting round the fire taking to them.
