Waterbuck Game Lodge Thornybush Nature Reserve is situated in the Southern part of The Thornybush Nature Reserve, adjacent to a water estuary and waterhole.

Mixed Feelings About Waterbuck Lodge We recently stayed at Waterbuck Lodge as part of our honeymoon, and while there were some highlights, unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations, especially considering the cost. First, the positives: the game drives were absolutely fantastic! The team was warm, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable, making the wildlife experience the highlight of our trip.

The property was modern, welcoming and beautiful. We loved spending time in the pool. And the hang out spots (bar, restaurant, Boma) were all beautiful.

Offering pool views, Kubu Bush Lodge in Hoedspruit offers accommodation, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden, a restaurant, a bar and a spa and wellness centre. Complimentary WiFi is offered.

We decided on short notice to stay overnight at the Lodge, and left feeling rested and satisfied. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The dinner was good, and the breakfast was excellent. While there is no Wi-Fi in the rooms, it is available in the restaurant and main building. I would gladly recommend this place at any time for a peaceful and tranquil bush experience.

The lodge is beautiful, the views are amazing. Shumbalala Family made the stay unforgettable. Everything is well thought and organized, friendly and sincere. All is needed from guests is to relax and enjoy, which we truly did. Ryan was our ranger and together with the tracker arranged awesome game drives and so much information about animals, birds and flora around. Loved every moment of our stay.

We were greeted warmly by owners Michael and Vicky who were always happy to chat and find out about our experience at the lodge. When I mentioned a couple of minor issues they were quickly addressed. Our tent was comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed seeing antelopes just outside. They also came to drink from the swimming pool, giving us some great photo opportunities. The driver Dennis and spotter Phomani were very knowledgeable and found some wonderful sites to spot the animals, especially the lions killing a buffalo.

We had an amazing stay at Tangala. Our first safari and it didn’t disappoint. Our Guide Respect and Tracker Fumani were incredible, went all out to make sure we saw the Big 5, great guys. Karen and Bertus run a fabulous authentic lodge and all the staff were fantastic, they all made sure we had the perfect experience. Can’t recommend Tangala enough !
