Elizabeth and her son were fantastic hosts - helpful, accommodating and friendly. The patio area was a gem for evening sunset viewing and morning coffee. They were super helpful with the use of their bbq too. Overall it’s top notch, conveniently located near the highway, but far enough back away from it. The town of Manitowaning is really peaceful, and the beach is a 2min drive from the motel. It is a short drive to Sheguiandah and Little Current as well as South Baymouth (ferry terminal). As a former resident of Little Current, returning home for a visit, I discovered Manitowaning from a new perspective and found it to be an amazing little place to stay. Can’t say enough about the Wayside and the owners.

The property had everything imaginable that you could have needed. Down to the silly things you might forget to bring from home like cooking spray. There is clearly a great amount of thoughtfulness and care for the guests that the owners have put into this cottage and it made it such a wonderful experience for us. Everything was exactly as described and we were able to fully relax on this vacation.

Betty Ann went above and beyond to help us out when we let her know that we'd come expecting to be in a self-catering unit - completely our mistake as we have a different definition of "kitchenette" in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 . We expected a kitchen sink and dishes, cutlery etc.

This is a self contained apartment in a brand new 4-plex overlooking the lake on the eastern side of Manitoulin Island. Melissa met us on arrival and was very helpful. We cooked most of our breakfast and dinners in the beautiful modern kitchen that had everything we needed. The two bedrooms were a bonus with comfortable mattresses, pillows and linens. Sunsets were beautiful from the large deck. Also included a great BBQ. There are steps leading down to the beach and dock. We used the property to explore and hike Manitoulin Island. and would definitely return.

Thank you for offering a quiet, clean plase and COVID-safe check-in. I have health conditions that put me at higher risk for adverse reactions, and was very happy to see masks worn at the front desk. Because of that I felt safe chatting a bit and got tips on what to see on beautiful Manitoulin island -- Providence Bay, cup & saucer trail, etc. Room was very clean as well, would stay again.
