We spent 6 nights on Easter Island. That is plenty of time to see all the main sights without rushing around. There are lots of good restaurants around the town, especially Te Moana just up the road from the sports club.
Hanga Roa itself is the 'capital' of Rapa Nui and has a long main street and a couple of cross streets. Restaurant recommendations : Tataku Vave (15 mins walk from town, near the port) ; La Kaleta (at the end of the fishermen's wharf) ; Traveller's Place (in town). The first two have great sea views. For handicrafts, try the main shop by the church, but there is a lot of junk. I recommend Amaya Gallery for modern paintings using traditional motifs, the Tourism Office will have other suggestions and brochures. A note on ATMs - Banco Estado is much easier to use, and cheaper than Santander, which has unfathomable transaction limits. Armed with the book 'A Companion to Easter Island' and an early visit to the museum, hire a car and go sightseeing independently at your own pace. You only need the minibus tours if you're in a hurry. Where you really do need a guide is to walk on Poike and/or the northwest coast : you are unlikely to find the interesting caves, petroglyphs etc on your own. But walking guides are very expensive (it's cheaper on horseback !) Ahu Tongariki remains the highlight of the island.
The town and Easter Island are culturally amazing. The food options are impressive. The residents are very friendly. Everyone is passionate about their homeland and culture and appreciate you taking the time to learn more.
The town in Easter island has all you need - great fresh fish restaurant and good places to stay. Understandably expensive given location! But worth it for the scenery!
Easter island is amazing, the city itself has a very chill island vibe and the people are very friendly. Nice restaurants and some places to go to the beach and swim in the sea!
Easter Island is a fantastic place to visit, especially during the festival. The sights are amazing. We found a couple of good restaurants, Tavern du Pecheur & Restaurante Pea. Three night stay ideal length of trip
Absolutely fascinating island. Suggest you read Thor Heyerdahl's book Aku Aku about Easter Island. It was written in the 1950's but I think it is the best book to give you a background to the culture and history of the island as well as the history of the moai and their carving. The island is easily drivable with only two main roads and rentals are easily had in the main town. All the major sites are along these roads. It is truly a place in the middle of the Pacific with nothing else around this 63 sq miles of rock. There are few beaches but the most magnificent is Anakena with its very own moai overlooking the palms and white sand. The 15 standing moai of Tongariki are a site to behold as is the quarry of Rano Ranaku where they were carved. This is just one of those places you go because it is truly one of a kind: the draw is the moai and their history. PS this is a 5.5 hr flight from Santiago Chile and it is heavily booked.
The culture and ancient monuments were sectacular. Easter Island Tours were very good. Took two 1 day tours Tour A North to West and Tour B South to East. For most people this does it all. Restaurants I would recommend Te Moana, Hani Hain (no English menu but helpful staff and Moana Sunset.
We did tour A and B, full day tours of the island, with a company that takes only eight customers. The tours were fun and wonderfully informative. Our hotel, the Manavai, was a scenic beauty, capturing the island with its many art works and wood decor. We went to Kari Kari, a great show that we would highly recommend. We also tried at least four different restaurants from extremely classy to just local--all served wonderful food. I loved the ceviche. Easter Island is a terrific destination.
2 good restaurants on harbour front over looking sea and easy walking to museum and some of the heads . Beautiful coastal scenery and a bus that goes to beaches . Difficult for vegetarians and impossible for vegans to eat much ! Easter Island tours in Hanga Roa was amazing and we had 3 full days of all the sites with them
absolutely gorgeous property with stunning gardens and a lovely warm swimming pool in the Center. We were delayed by a day because we did not know about the PCR test requirement for entering Easter Island (fyi!!) and they made a huge effort to ensure we were not charged even though we were a day late arriving. The staff also helped with bookings in Spanish! they could not have been more helpful. Another thing: our hotel was five minutes from the waterfront ! great location!
The hotel is extremely well located, next to monuments that can be visited without a guide and a 10-minute walk to the town's city centre. Facilities are very clean and service is wonderful, with fresh breakfast being brought to your room. A special thank you to the staff that is very attentive and helped us long before the booking and throughout our stay with great dedication. Our stay at Takarua lounge definitely made our stay in Easter Island even more memorable.
We were blown away by how amazing this hotel was and we had high hopes! If you come to Easter Island, don't even think twice. The breakfast was phenomenal, the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect. Within walking distance to tons of restaurants. We are travel bloggers and we'll be recommending this to all of our readers on our website because we were so happy here. Thank you!!!!

You will feel in this Hotel as if you are at home among your family, and we thank Madame Ivvone. She was very friendly and compassionate. They are an honorable for the people of the Easter island. My greetings to them from Egypt.

Hanga Roa
No cockroach in this hostel! 10 mins walk to town centre Good value of money on Easter island
Nice hotel in Easter Island. Owner was very interactive.
Good location, just 10-15 mins walk to the town centre and the sea side. Room is clean, but the bathroom is bit narrow. The staff is helpful, he gave us a lot of great suggestions about our trip. Nice breakfast but do not have many options.
The landscaping and architecture are pure Rapa Nui. It is located close to shopping, restaurants, & the ocean but tucked away from noise of any traffic. I took sevreal cultural tours of the island offered by the hotel & they were amazing.
