In a prime location in Hangzhou, EBO Hotel (Hangzhou West Lake) provides air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi, free private parking and room service. Wow! What an amazing and surprising hotel. I travel a lot to China for work, and while good hotels are usually... just hotels, the experience at EBO was different. The hotel I usually stay at in Hangzhou wasn’t available, so I booked a room at EBO. From the outside, the hotel looked quite simple and unremarkable, which made me a bit concerned at first. However, as soon as I stepped into the lobby on the fifth floor, I discovered a hidden gem. The lobby and courtyard are beautifully designed in a Japanese/Nordic style. The check-in process was quick, and they even upgraded my room. The room itself was by far the most beautiful one I’ve stayed in over the past few years: it had a stunning view of the city, a warm and minimalist design, a huge and comfortable bed, and an enormous bathtub. There was also a built-in sound system in the room, which was super cool. After two weeks of traveling across China, I had a peaceful and relaxing evening in the room. Everything felt brand new, from the furniture to the bathroom fixtures. Breakfast was a classic Chinese breakfast—delicious for those who enjoy and are open to trying it. Personally, I enjoy a Chinese breakfast, but for those who aren’t as fond of it, I’m afraid there aren’t many “Western” options available at breakfast. The reception staff also allowed me to check out late, which I greatly appreciated. I had an amazing and unexpected experience! Can’t wait to return soon.

The Four Seasons at the West Lake is a wonderful structure, set in a beautiful traditional garden, on the banks of the West Lake in Hangzhou. We appreciated quite a lot the peaceful atmosphere and the proximity to the gardens on the West Lake. Our room was huge, with a view on the hotel pond and garden. The staff was extremely kind and helpful, always ready to support in any way. Both dining options available are great, with food of high quality, impeccable service and beautiful atmosphere. Altogether it was a wonderful stay, we hope to be back soon.
