The food was fantastic and served by the sea. The location - the beach is pristine and quiet. The room was pretty and very comfortable - AC, dessert decor, love the hammock out front. It is a very tranquil place.

There are not many things to do in Riohacha, so you will have to take trips to Cabo de la Vela, Playa Camaron o Playa Palominos, if you want to explore beautiful nature of Guajira. However, keep in mind that Guajira is an extremely poor region, so if you travel there be prepared to see indigenous Wayu people asking for money in every corner. It is heart breaking to see little ones asking for a bottle of water. It's a rather rough trip, don't look for all inclusive hotels or other luxury things there.

Palomino, Guajira is a small tourist town with kind locals, several hostel options and things to do. I don't feel the locals are overbearing, they are respectful, yet helpful and the pueblo has a lot to offer. It is also about an hour away (give or take) from Tayrona (Tairona) a hot spot in Magdalena. If you plan to visit please be courteous to the surroundings and don't litter.

Riohacha is the place to stay if you're heading up into La Guajira... There is nothing here to do really. Good Arabic restaurant, surprisingly! Shocking poverty in this region - very sobering.

A very relaxed and simple town. The main road is about a mile from the beach down a dirt road where all the main hostels are. An hour away from Tayrona, gateway to the rest of La Guajira and tubing down the river and three great reasons to spend a day or two lazing by the pool in Palomino. The beach is nice but the water isn't Caribbean clear and with a strong current it's not advisable to swim in so make sure your hostel/hotel has a pool!

The staff was very friendly and helpful and even called someone who spoke English to explain the safety/security measurements to take in this part of Colombia. The breakfast was good and we loved the rooftop terrace and the hammocks on the balcony.

If you are looking for a place to relax, you must come to Aite!!! We stayed in the Standard Bungalow on the beach and we loved it, it has all you need, the bed is extremely comfortable and the best part is that you open the door and you are right at the beach, so when is time to sleep all you can hear is the ocean :). Colourful birds everywhere, beautiful landscapes, nature sounds. The restaurant has great views, a wide and varied menu with typical food from the region and more, it also has many options for vegetarians! The food is delicious and I particularly loved the breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they will make you feel at home. I’ll definitely come back!

Absolutely everything. I won’t go into much detail right now, but everything about the hotel was simply delightful. Food, accommodations, location, staff, and even the atmosphere of the place. Who I believe to be the manager, even went as far to personally greet every guest and go out of his way to make sure everyone feels comfortable and accommodated. The two nights my family spent there was an extremely memorable experience, and it is safe to say that La Jarorá is one of, if not the best hotel/resort I’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in.
