I really recommend the garlic rice and Chilli chicken 😅 we enjoyed the hotel facilities and next morning had a ride to ambuluwawa tower (30 minutes).

Kandy is a nice place, but - maybe because its temple is a World Heritage site - it is always crowded. There is not much to see in the town itself one day is enough to visit these, but maybe better to skip it because of the traffic jams into, in and out of the town.

Perfect starting in Sri Lanka
We tried The Kandy Garden Coffee, near the lake. It was really good. Portions are big. Price are cool. We had the best tuk-tuk driver, who is Ramzan Abdul! Went to Sigiriya and Dambulla with him. He took us the best restaurant in Dambulla, Sakura restaurant! Try the place! And than he took us an Ayurvedic massage, what was pretty cool!

Kandy is a cool place after Colombo.
Kandy is a cool place after Colombo. The weather is much livable than in Colombo, and so for people's attitude toward foreigners. You can relax and you can easily go to other places outside of the city. Beside the usual things, don't miss the Royal Botanic Garden which you can get with a local price for very cheap. Everything in walking distance in the city. If you go around the lake you can see bats on the three, several kinds of bird, some reptiles in the water, if you like them.

Kandy is a very crowded, noisy place with high air pollution and busy traffic all over. The only thing you shouldn't miss, is the Royal Botanical Garden, it's fantastic. We were in the beautiful Tooth Temple around 6pm, and it was full of people, so unfortunatelly we couldn't enjoy at all.

Traffic is sluggish as you approach the city and within, calculate this into your plan. The Kandy dance is a must see. The temple of the tooth relic has a bit chaotic queues around the sanctuary, nevertheless it is a unique experience especially after sunset. Proper clothing is monitored here.
