In overall one of the best hotel I have stayed so far.

The view of Kanchenjunga is the best part of this place. I went with my 50+ parents, so comfort and homely food was my first priority and I believe I received more than I expected. Although we didn’t book a Mountain View room, we could see it from our window. Rooms- Cleaned everyday, provided slippers and towel. Spacious rooms with comfortable bed. Clean lined and blankets. Staff- Very friendly and courteous. Always ready to help. Booked us cab for sightseeing. Food and Water- Food was homely and very delicious in affordable price. Water bottles available for purchase in a very affordable rate. I, along with my parents are very satisfied with our stay, looking forward to visit again for sure

Located in Darjeeling and offering a breath-taking view of the surrounding mountains, Cedar Inn provides a fitness centre, a spa and a 24-hour front desk. Free WiFi is available at public areas. I can only describe this hotel in superlatives. We were greeted with hot tea and very professional staff members upon check-in. Our room had a fantastic view over the surrounding hills, including the Kanchenjunga. We had water and tea-making amenities in the room. The hotel is quite cold during winter, so wear your jacket in the common areas, but the room was well-heated with a radiator and felt very cozy. It was spacious, with an upper deck where the bed and the bathroom were and a lower deck close to the windows with a social area to enjoy the view. The food in the restaurant was terrific, and so was the service. Altogether, we had an unforgettable experience and will likely come back, despite Darjeeling being several days of travel time from our home.

The staff were welcoming, particularly at the YAYAVAR restaurant during breakfast service and Cal-On. They were all helpful, particularly Biswajit, Santu, Arpita, Bindiya who greeted us every morning. Adnan was very friendly and helped us with a reservation on Christmas night at Cal-On, and gave us great advice about visiting locations in Kolkata. I stayed at this property two separate visits in December, and will definitely return.

Mandarmoni is quite near from Kolkata (Calcutta) in West Bengal. The nearest train station is Kanthi PH. From Howrah, it takes around 4hours to reach Kanthi PH by train. From Kanthi PH station, one can take a cab (Rs. 400/- for a Maruti Omni Van) to reach your hotel on the beach in Mandarmoni. You can also reach Kanthi Bus Stand and board a bus that goes to Digha (it will be cheaper this way) Mandarmoni is a quite beach. No night life or entertainments on the beach. Very few shops. It is better if you buy your stuff on your way from Kanthi or Kolkata. Food is very expensive here. Alcohols are charged 30 - 40% extra if you buy from the beach. The beach has both high & low tides everyday. The water is ok for bathing, but the sand is too harsh. Swimming and water sports are not advisable on this beach. Mandarmoni, as it seemed to us, is good for 2-3 days maximum. Good place to hang out with friends or family. Unlike Digha, Mandarmoni is quite secluded and clean. Less but quality crowd. Best time to visit is winters as the weather becomes too hot in summers. Nearby places of visits are few temples, Talsari beach and Digha. Hotel Mainak is a very good place for stay. Right on the beach, safe and budget-friendly. The owner is very helpful too.

After visiting Sikkim which is a civic state with people serious to make it look more beautiful then you come to the neighbouring state of West Bengal and see the vast difference. Its a dirty city and definitely avoidable. Less choices of veg food. Its like any over rated north Indian hill station.

Main kalimpong is a crowded city and much polluted these days as construction works going on. Due to hillside narrow roads there is traffic jam normally.

I was greeted by Monu, who was fantastic throughout my stay and was offered guidance on what to do in the area, as I was only here in Kolkata for one day.
