The Heron Island resort is a great destination for families to learn and discover. The facilities are laid out very well, however I dont believe they are being utilised to their full potential. I knew in advance we weren’t attending heron for the food, but it was grossly overpriced for the frozen meals we were served. I appreciate resources are limited, however with some thought the food could be improved. The service staff were good but I didn’t feel like they were a team.

The island is unique and incredibly beautiful. It was the bird breeding season so expect tens of thousands of birds with their poop and therefore smell, but that is just part of their island. Based on the reviews, we didn’t expect luxury in the resort. The room was basic but clean and with new sheets and new towels. All staff extremely kind and helpful.

The island is absolutely stunning with its crystal clear waters, abundance of marine life and beautiful beaches. We spent all day in the waters around the island diving and snorkelling, taking in the insane numbers of turtles, rays and reef sharks. The resort is clean and well maintained with friendly staff. If you come here for the pristine reef and location, you’re in the right place.

I love it that Heron Island Resort is integrated into the natural world rather than trying to dominate resulting in another wonderful experience. Staff were very engaged and friendly (particularly the restaurant staff) and the room was comfy.

Great breakfast, and good restaurant for lunch and dinner. We would have liked a few more snack options - vegetarian sandwiches were great, but were sold out very quickly. Loved the old-school ambience of the resort, with no digital distractions and so many hands-on activities available, many of them complimentary. The location was simply stunning; it’s hard to beat spotting epaulette sharks in the morning, floating over coral reefs and zillions of fish after lunch, and swimming with turtles at dusk.

The location was magnificent and we were lucky the mutton birds had migrated. The resort is a little tired although a huge effort is being made to bring it up to scratch. Ocean swimming was fabulous and the island lends itself well to outdoor water sports. The island paths were well maintained as were the grounds. Breakfast was excellent with more than ample selection and quantity. It was self serve which worked well. Ferry service was excellent. Staff in office were helpful and cheerful always.

This island stay was PARADISE! The island itself is incredible and full of beautiful marine and bird life! The resort was very cool and secluded with all of the facilities needed. It felt so cool to stay in amongst the native birds so close to the beach. The staff made it extra special for us - it was our anniversary so they brought us a complimentary bottle of prosecco to our room! This was such a lovely touch, so thank you!!
