Our stay at The Warden’s House was a delightful escape into nature. The rustic charm of the accommodations, combined with the surrounding wildlife, made for a unique and peaceful experience. The staff were welcoming and knowledgeable, enhancing our appreciation of the local environment. Big shout out to Kelum for the safari drives and Pradeepan who provided excellent attentiveness.

The property is very good value and extremely clean. The host is a nice man who is very knowledgeable about the area and Yala. The food in comparison to local restaurants seemed a lot and the packed breakfast on the safari was expensive at 2300lkr for white bread cheese sandwich.
In truth the safari that was organised was a bit disappointing compared to the Eco park in Habanara. I know we can’t “expect” to see wild animals but t was an expensive and long five hours with not a lot going on.
If you are keen to go to Yala this is still a good option for staying.

The Den at Yala is a true gem! This small, intimate hotel with only four rooms offers an incredibly personal and welcoming experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted so warmly by Gabriel, his wife, their children, the stuff, and even their friendly dogs – it genuinely felt like arriving at a home away from home. The hospitality was exceptional, making our stay truly memorable. If you're looking for a cozy and personal retreat near Yala, The Den is an absolute must.

We had an unforgettable experience in Yakaduru. Kirula was more than welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Response prior to our arrival was speedy, we booked the safari tour with Yakaduru and they had everything covered by the time we got there. We also had the pool villa and we were not disappointed. The staff included an evening walk followed by a traditional dance performance at dinner.
One memorable moment was spotting a rat snake on our roof at night - which was not surprising given that we were in the jungle. However, the staff quickly reassured us that it is harmless and emphasized their 24/7 availability should we need any assistance. To top off our experience, we were given a thoughtful parting gift, which was a lovely gesture that made our departure bittersweet. Thank you Kirula and the Yakaduru team!

Although the accommodation is advertised as a wedding location, I'm not sure if anyone ever ate there - we certainly couldn't order a Coke. The hotel attendant was super friendly and the room was great. The air conditioning was in good working order, the room was absolutely clean and there was coffee in the morning. Absolutely fine for the price. We can highly recommend it.
