"I really enjoyed being there! It was a great stay with a great location, superb welcome, and friendly staff. The owner even arranged a tour that I wanted. Also, I’d say the hostel’s level is very high in many areas. They’ve renovated a lot of things, and it feels excellent there. Another nice thing is that you get a towel and tasty breakfast with the basic price. You can also play the guitar. Thank you very much for everything!"

It's right o the riverside with a superb view of the rock with the castle and part of the old town. On that side of the river there are very few cars going. It's calm but still very close to the center. The hostel has a cozy atmosphere. The breakfast is good.

I had the best time of my life at Maya hostel. It’s perfect location and the stuff is super nice. I spent all my time with the owner and volunteers. If you want to enjoy Berat, you should definitely go for Maya hostel! :)

Maya hostel is everything you expect from a hostel when traveling, Miri the owner is really nice (even dropped me at the bus station at the end of my stay), he'll be an asset in your stay in Berat. The place is a traditional ottoman house and is kept spotless. The terrace is giving you an amazing view on the castle and the hill it is on. We even got to make a fire and grill some sausages on it. Every bed's got large curtains allowing you to have some privacy in the dorms and all the rooms are equipped with AC. Part of the staff are travellers staying in for a month or more so you'll have a family vibe arriving, everyone knows each other or will do very soon. Big recommandation on the Wine tour offered by the place, 30 quids for visiting a beautiful winery working with local grapes. Careful Albanians are a fun bunch and very generous. You will end up with more wine and raki in front of you than expected. Eating before is mandatory even if cheese, fruits and various snacks will be served during the evening. Aside Berat being a really cute place, it is the hostel and its staff that made me stay longer in the region. Thanks guys, I'll be seeing you here or further down the road.

Nothing, it was perfect

The property itself was absolutely beautiful, you can tell a lot of time, effort and love has been put into it and this also throws through the staffs attitude too, they were all so helpful and welcoming. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The facilities were great and the location was perfectly central.

Perfect location just by the river in the heart of Berat, and with a beautiful view of the iconic houses. The house and courtyard is beautiful, and the owner and volunteers are so open and friendly. Despite only staying for one night I felt like a part of the Berat community, and I would definitely have stayed longer if I could (it seems that many people extend and fall in love with Berat). I hope to be back soon!

I loved how central the property is to the historic district of the city, every place of great history and culture was in short walking distance from the hostel, and the hostel staff gave some great recommendations for restaurants and attractions close by! The hostel was very clean and, most importantly, warm thanks to the heaters/air cons!

I loved the outdoor area at the front of the property, it was very peaceful eating breakfast with the other guests out there in the sun! I also loved my room, it was very comfortable, cosy and quiet. Every space from the lobby to the room I had was clean and well-maintained!

There were some powercuts at the my stay.But that I guess there were some works which they have been carried out while I was there.No big deal for me. It was quite amusing.And I guess that is because lower season these kind of maintenance must be done.So for me that was NOT an issue.

Location. And the quirky aspect of the place. Original building.Very clean.Staff very attentive and the lovely breakfast included in the price served by the most charming lady.The spread was marvellous and the cheese was to dye for.Wonderful.Plus the bed was very comfy.I was in the room with the balcony with amazing views of all Berat unesco heritage site.Very awarding experience.Lovely sunset.

Somewhat noisy from the terrace bar right next to the rooms (although they politely low down the volume after midnight, but you can hear lively conversation from the people). The shower is open and the bathroom is all wet after showering, even if you take care.

If you are looking for a hostel with a vibe don’t go there, because there’s not doing activities in the hostel to make people connect ! Like a social drink for example

The drain in our room smelt a bit but it was fine if you opened the window for five minutes. There were also wasps all in the jams etc on the breakfast.
