We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PolandI was in 6person bedroom, without aircondition and no possibility of opening window, because it was on a ground floor and for the safety reason they did not recommend it. Only small fan for 6persons. And it was hot outside and crazy hot inside!! The worst night in a hostel in my life! Could not sleep because of the temperature in room. There was 9digit (!) code to the room and to bed, different 4 digit code to the bathroom and toilet and different4digit code to the common area and kitchen. 3 different codes! So you needed to have them always with you, otherwise you would be in trouble ;)
It was clean. Bed was comfy and was giving privacy.

United KingdomAccommodated in 8 separate dog like cages in one room of about 10ft x 10ft. The cage allocated to me both upstairs and downstairs, had broken locks as a result I couldn’t lock any of the two cages inside. A young boy tried two times to open the cage sliding door. His third attempt, I shouted at him and it was around 12 midnight. Anything could had been on his Evil mind. I thank God I wasn’t a heavy sleeper. I spoke to one David on cleaner’s phone, the only one that could speak English and he was based somewhere else. I told him that I paid for a bed and not the cage and it should have been in females dormitory. His challant reply was, “that is all I got for you” Tears rolled down my face. 1. My hold-all was no where to be found on my arrival at Vienna by Ryanair up till. I couldn’t attend the Nigeria Adire materiel 10th year cultural show I was invited to attend. David had already told me they don’t have any dealings with lost baggage at the airport. I had to tell my grandson to contact Ryan airways and Vienna airport on my behalf.
Nearer to the train station and shops.

United KingdomUnsafe.. surrounded by homeless people who try and sneak in behind you as you try and walk in. We saw so many people struggling to check in. Furthermore, our room had a massive ant infestation, fruit flies on the walls and bed bugs on the bed. Awful experience with the customer service too, who didn’t seem bothered at all at the fact our hostel room was a literal jungle. We were forced to buy alternative accommodation as we could not stay in the room they gave us. The hostel has completely refused to refund us the money aswell.
the location was ok… half an hour walk from city centre

United Arab EmiratesProvided towels could have been a bit bigger.....
No need to interact with the receptionist (not sure if there were any). You just need to check in online yourself, and you will get a code to enter. Extremely convenient for those arriving late night or in the morning...

Francethe area felt a little dodgy at night, with people shouting in the streets. my room was on the ground floor facing the street so particularly noisy. the beds weren't very comfortable either. the sliding doors to the beds were quite loud, i was woken up every time they were opened and closed. the room felt a bit cramped. it was too hot when i visited in july, even with the window open and the fan on the highest setting.
location was pretty good, opposite the main train station and with a metro line to the center right on the doorstep.

Austria1. Round the clock vagrants making noise at all hours of the night, except for 30 minutes when the stores open and they can buy more alcohol to kick off another productive day. 2. Very efficient use of space. Not as bad as on a train, but smaller than a cruise ship. Pay close attention to the area shown on the reservation. Other hostles in the area have more space in the rooms. 3. Shared toilets and showers on our floor were 2x showers and 2x toilets. Sometimes you have to wait. 4. Never saw a member of staff. 5. Not sure about security since people simply tend to follow you in. 6. No window shades/blinds. For €15 in savings (4 beds), I would have hoped for better value. Maybe there are fewer vagrants in the colder months. In the middle of summer, sleeping with closed windows is quite hot. Open windows is noisy.
It was clean and very close to the station entrance. They provided a fan, which was a life saver.

IndiaThe room was very cozy but has this cabin type built which I find was a bit uncomfortable. Some people might find this good as it gives you full privacy. Since I visited Vienna in summer, it was very warm to sleep in this close cabin bed. But in winter its really good. You also have to walk a bit to the centre but if you're taking a metro train then you're good to go.
The hostel was super close to Vienna central station. The staff were helpful and adjusting. I also like the common area where you can sit and chit chat with other fellow travelers, store your luggage and use the common kitchen. Overall I would definitely recommend this hostel.

Hungarya disgrace. No air conditioning, hospital beds (rubberized plastic mattress that makes you sweat until your eardrums… disgusting and uncomfortable), you need an abacus to remember how many codes you have to enter all the places. The opening of the room doors is as smooth as a cannon in the ear. Very small spaces, I am sleeping with my backpack on top of the bed. The pillows are stuffed with stuffing, it is better to replace it with a sock, I think it can be more bulky. It is perfect that they want to have a lodging business, but this is to be implemented in a prison, or a summer camp in the mountains. I doubt they will return my money, but I prefer to leave it to them so they can at least buy larger towels that can dry me a little more than my hands. I hope my recommendation helps.

AustraliaCombo lock, pin, and phone dependency for check in was inadequate. Although very detailed instructions, they were unclear and still did not provide the right information for getting through front door, into room, and into the wooden coffins. The room was super hot and stuffy and smelled bad and the coffins they make you sleep in are claustrophobic and too hot. The light switch and power for the coffin unit is too far back and you can easily injure yourself on the iron sliding railings for the coffin door. The design of the room was particularly bad also with the entrance to a couple of the coffins right where the door opens, if you are sitting there trying to take your shoes off or dress you can be hit by someone coming in and out. When I complained a little about the pin system, the staff reacted like I was a child and said a different place they own uses QR codes if that helps. Huh? I was already there with a booking. They showed condescension, low levels of training. Don't go there, there are better alternatives in Vienna for similar money. Unless you really like sleeping in hot unsafe coffins.
Location is next to the Hauptbahnhof, the only good part.

IrelandThe room, it lacked curtains and around 4am it was so bright and hot. The windows did not open widely, the fan was broken (pointing just to the ceiling and floor). I did not like the bunker beds, they were like a cage, not easy ventilation. The bunker beds used like lockers, no other lockers in the room, so you would have sleep with your backpack/luggage in the bed. No place to hang wet clothes in the room (just little hangers for towels, one for each person) neither to put the toiletries in the shower. No shower hanger so you have to grab the shower head while taking a shower. I’d say it is overpriced, I’ve stayed in other cities around (Prague/Budapest) in good locations and even with AC for half of the price.
I liked the modern system, but saw a lot of people struggling to put the codes/running out of battery in their phones. The location, was not in the heart of the city but just right to the central bus station and to the metro. Easy to get around. The water pressure for showering was great.

United KingdomVery hot - No air con, only a small fan is available in every room. The bed has a wooden door which makes it even hotter. Very noisy - The door and lock make loud noises so you might be waken easily by your roommates. Unfriendly staff - The reception are not opened at any time. There is a 247 contact number but the staff was rude and not willing to help. My lock is not working properly and she said it is not possible and asked me to keep trying, and not willing to send someone to check. Bathroom - The bathroom are clean but poorly designed, there is not even a shower head holder and you have to hold it when you are showering.
The location, the hostel is next to a metro station and a 5 mins walk can take you to the main train station.

Czech RepublicI just wish they sent us better information on the start of the booking. The check-in was OK but a welcome message with more information before check in would clear up some things I didn't quite get at first
Really punched above its weight compared to other hostels. Clean, everything worked, the bed was actually comfortable and the people were not loud. The temperature was so-so on a warm night, could be worse.
