Very noisy until 3am on a Saturday night. No air conditioning, no hair dryer, no toiletries in the shower. Light from the emergency staircase was illuminating half of the room.

Location was perfect for Westbahnhof. Room was clean.

NOISY, I stayed in a room with windows to the courtyard, it was just HORRIBLE as it was impossible to sleep the whole night due to people chatting and laughing loudly in the courtyard. I called several times the reception to do something also ask the youngsters downstairs to shut up, but nothing. It'd be a max 10 min task to pick up the tables and the chairs so people would not have the chance sitting there comfortably and spend the nights chatting like in a pub. Also putting several bigger signs there could call the attention of people for the silent hours.

Kitchen was filthy I was scared to use the fridge and common area smelled of body odour constantly. bathroom was poor, the toilet leaked every-time you flushed it so floor was constantly wet. shower was bad you had to hold nozzle and temperature was either cold or burning hot. bed sheets didn’t fit the bed which was just a little gross. key cards often didn’t work.

no wifi in the rooms, could barely pick up a phone signal for data. no power outlets. en suite washroom light was motion activated but not sensitive enough so i’d be on the toilet or in the shower and the light would just shut off. imagine waving your hands in the air butt naked trying to wake up the lights…

Cleanliness, many facilities like backyards, calm areas to relax, big kitchen with stove, dishes and cutlery, private bathroom in the room, pressure of water is good. The place has been cleaned everyday. Reception was helpful and responsive. Certainly stay again

The keys to the room didn't always work. When we entered the room for the first time it was OK, but for the second time we couldn't get in with either of our keys, and had to go back to the reception to get them changed. When we arrived someone was complaining about exactly the same issue. Luckily the reception is open 24/7, so you can go to ask for help even in the middle of the night, but it was still stressful to think about whether we'll be able to get into the room the next time we return to the hostel. There definitely weren't enough sockets. A room of 6 should include at least this amount of sockets nowadays - and, if possible, next to the beds - yet this room only had 2 or 3 next to the door&the lockers (further away from the beds), and one in the bathroom. The price we paid included bedclothes, but there was no duvet for the blanket, just a larger bedsheet that you could put between you and the blanket. I don't really find this practical or even hygienic (I assume the blankets themselves don't get washed that frequently). The automatic lights in the bathroom turn off way too quickly/easily - I constantly had issues with it turning off while I was using the toilet or brushing my teeth. As others have already mentioned: bring your own lock! The lockers can only be closed using old-style locks, which are only available if you pay for them. Ants were coming in from the garden and were crawling everywhere on the windowsill where I stored my backpack because I didn't want to have it on the floor.

We stayed one night at Do Step Inn Home - Hotel & Hostel, in a room of 6 (3x bunk beds). For a single night it was OK, and the location was nice (just a few minutes' walk from Westbahnhof and one end of Mariahilferstrasse), but for a longer stay I would have found the stay inconvenient. The room was cold upon arrival, but luckily the heating worked fine and we managed to heat the room up quickly. Each bed has a wall lamp next to it for reading - I found this to be a nice feature.

This was probably one of the worst experience I ever had in a hostel. They try to be cool by letting people check in online (via a URL) even though there are people working and there is a reception but the receptionist told me to check-in via online form and went to the room and closed the door. I filled the online form and paid the money but at last page a signature was required to which I asked, please provide me the details what I am signing to ? as it was also mentioned that if you don't want sign digitally then get a hard copy. I asked for the hard copy and then all hell broke. The receptionist had no idea what to do so he had to call his colleague and even though I didn't sign online, the money has been deducted from my bank account but not shown in his account. It was a stressful situation for almost 20-30 minutes as my money was gone and he didn't receive it and he couldn't offer me a place! It turns out that I was on the wrong address as there are two different branches (one with Home in the name, google search doesn't bring Home name) but all this could have been avoided, had the guy received me and checked the booking. At the end I had to leave the Central branch and reach at West branch in uncertainty because it was not sure whether the other branch had got the money either. Theoretically, if they belong to same owner, they should be able to see each other transactions but that was not the case. After reaching at West branch, it was revealed that money is not there either but after signing the form there, it also took them few minutes to confirm that they got the money. As I was talking and pointing out the flaw in the system, the reception at West branch rudely start talking to another guest and just ignored me completely. Kitchen was closed till ~07:15 and I couldn't find another source to have drinkable tap water.

The price of a single coffee in the cafe was about half the price of a whole breakfast, which costs 7.90 euro! Much too expensive! Instant coffee and creamer should be on hand as a courtesy for people who just want a single coffee without breakfast, at 1 euro a cup, just to cover costs. They would lose money here, but gain a lot of good will!

It was perfect! I'm an older 80 year old man who found himself in a mixed dorm with only a 19 year old girl for company. We got along just fine! The next day we visited the Hundertwasser Museum together and we're mistaken for a grandfather out for the day with his granddaughter! Particular compliments to Monica of the staff for the clarity of her instructions on how to get there and get overall enthusiasm for her job!

The table in the room is too small. I had to do some last minute work and found it challenging with the limited work space. (The communal area is too noisy.)

The location is very accessible and convenient. The staff are helpful and flexible.
