We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

UkraineThere is no window in the room and you can't air the room, it's absolutely impossible to breathe. There is an exhaust fan, but it works poorly and is very loud. Having one key for everyone to the common door also made you worry that someone would take the key by mistake and you wouldn’t be able to get inside. It would be nice to have a microwave. It is also unpleasant that the owner asked to leave 10 euros of city tax, although Booking indicated that the tax was included in the price. I did not pay extra.
Very good location, close to the western station, you can walk there in 10 minutes. There is a supermarket nearby, you can buy food. The bed is normal, the bed linen is clean. A big plus for me was the coffee machine, you need to buy the capsules yourself.

RussiaThere were no windows in the room, it was not ventilated in any way. When you take a shower, water leaks through the walls and then moisture remains in the room.
A good accommodation option for little money. I managed to leave my things earlier - before check-in. Good location. There is a kitchen, coffee machine, washing machine.

SpainThe room was very damp and smelly (no windows, only an extractor fan), the mattress and pillow were very uncomfortable and the sheet was very old and rough (like sleeping on sandpaper). I'm an easy sleeper, but I did NOT sleep well there, getting up in the morning even before my alarm went off, with an achy body. The bed isn't a double bed (about 110cm or so). There isn't a single hook on the walls to hang your clothes on, or even the towels. There's a towel radiator where you could hang a few things on, though, but that's certainly not enough or practical. The floor and rugs were not very clean (although everything else was clean). There was no shower gel or shampoo, only a bottle of hand soap. The kitchen only had 2 small uncomfortable stools, not chairs, so while you could use the kitchen to cook some (very) basic meals/breakfast, it was very uncomfortable to sit on those stools for more than 5 minutes. Regarding breakfast, there was only coffee, but not even sugar or milk, which I had to buy. There is a supermarket around the corner where you could buy ready meals, but there's no microwave to heat them up (although there's a stove, which I didn't try). To get in the hostel, they send you a code by email. On my first day, they changed the code that afternoon. The second day, my phone died (broke) and I was TERRIFIED that if they changed the code again, I wasn't going to be able to get in the hostel, as I couldn't check my emails, so keep this in mind (although they didn't change the code again for the rest of my stay). I know this is a budget hostel, but I think there are some basic things that the host should consider for the comfort of the guests. Having shower gel, having hooks on the walls to hang clothes/towels, a small cheap microwave in the kitchen, sugar and milk (if only powdered milk), newer sheets, etc.
It was quiet, the shared toilet was clean, location was convenient, not too far from the city centre, shops and supermakrets, and just 200 metres away from a major train and underground station (ideal to get from and to the airport by train or bus, and getting anywhere in the city by underground or bus), private shower and sink in the room are a big plus, communication with host was adequate. Shower water was good. The air temperature was adequate, although at times it was a bit too warm at night with no ventilation. I didn't use it, but the washing machine could be convenient (although keep in mind that it would take forever for your clothes to dry in a damp room with no ventilation). Wifi worked well. PS, if I didn't find a room at a similar price somewhere else, I would return to this hostel. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't a good experience, just barely adequate.

BelarusThe preliminary instruction from the housewife in the e-mail is not detailed enough to explain the people who are not well acquainted with the locking door system operation. At the moment of arrival, I have no idea about the special box with locker weels hidden by the plastic window. This window should be dropped, and the weels for dialing the actual code will appear. On the other hand, some women guests can not open the door even having enough German to communicate with the housewife by telephone and even being known about this procedure later. There should be a special approach applied to the opening: one should pull the door hard and smoothly turn the key left simultaneously. There are no hooks or hangers on the walls at the entrance (where to keep coats in the wintertime?) as well as inside the rooms. The rooms are small to place something more than they have including clothes for living people but it seems that there is a partial solution to facilitate that for them: there is some free space on some walls to fix several hooks on them. So, there is no possibility to dry washed clothes except through heating racks in the room. Air conditioning is provided for rooms 2 and 3 but in room 1 the ventilation is natural and operates through the open window. There is no forced ventilation also in the common area (except for the shared toilet, of course). In this case, it takes some time to refresh the air after ironing.
Good place for a destination to everywhere in Vienna. The kitchen and kitchenette are available. Iron and iron desk is available and they are in a good stay. There is also a refrigerator filled with free mineral water bottles. Coffe-machine with free coffee is provided. The housewife is an impressive lady, she speaks German only, but tries to help the guests and uses booking.com translation services to facilitate her communication with guests. Her telephone No is on WhatsUp. In case of providing the password to connect it is possible to contact her cheaply just by staying near the door. The ventilation system is rather nice but operates only in rooms No 2 and 3. It is clean throughout the premises. There is a washing machine for laundry. The heating system is autonomous and is in use for the whole year.

United KingdomThe description states "private bathroom" and the shower is in the room, but the toilet is shared. The room is small and there is no window (although I soon got used to this). Despite this, it was still excellent value.
Although not central, the hostel is located within easy reach of Westbahnhof, with bus and train links to the centre; check-in (via keysafe) was easy and the room was spotless with a comfortable bed. There was also a well-equipped kitchen of which guests had full use. Everything is on the ground floor, there are plenty of shops nearby (Lidl is virtually opposite), the wi-fi worked well and the street is quiet.

United Kingdomthe lights were very dim in the windowless room I was situated in. Owner didn't communicate well when asked about the lights situation, which apparently another light source was hidden behind a mirror by the bed to access. Also, the "private bathroom" is a shower at the corner of the room, which the toilet + sink is shared among others outside, so that's very misleading.
location was accessible.

GermanyRoom had NO WINDOW (!). „Private Bathroom“ was a shower cubicle and sink right next to bed. Toilet was shared toilet in the hallway —> none of this was mentioned in room description. Room was moldy and felt like a prison cell. Ceiling light not working and whole place was noisy. Even for budget accommodation (234 € for 4 nights) this is not acceptable. Person who runs the place not willing to address issues or help in a constructive way. Left after one horrible night.

SwitzerlandI didn't like a lot of things and this is the worst place I've stayed. I haven't seen the administrator in 4 days, but there should be a person who will solve some issues. When I called, I was answered very rudely, why don't I communicate in German? During these 4 days, nobody tidied in the room and in the common area, there was no place to store garbage, the trash can was full. garbage was simply piled on top of the dumpster. The fact that there are no windows and normal ventilation in the room is one thing, but when the staff got mad at the guests who came to a beautiful place. There was a flood in my room and I cleaned it myself. The kettle was standing with mold even before I moved in, I even sent a photo, but no one came for 4 days. on the last day of my stay, I saw a COCKROACH in the room. I'm not rocking this house.

PolandI booked 'private bathroom'. I got a shower cabin in my room and a shared toilet with other guests. There is no reception and no one to actually speak face to face. It's more of an AirBnB - with instructions how to get a key sent via an email. They key system is so bad - there is a box with a pin code outside with ONE key for all three rooms. Lucky that there was no issue with someone forgetting to leave it for others. And the lock was so difficult to use - I could barely open the door and so did the other guest. There was no air con in my room - only windows, which is fine for me, but not when I shower in the same room. It ended up so stuffy and unpleasant. Same after night, since the room is quite small. It was the only room with windows as well. The shower was leaking so badly - not through the door, but where it connected with the floor. I also couldn't easily communicate with the owner as they only speak German. Lucky I could use WhatAp and Google Translate and I do speak basic German.
I'm afraid that the only good thing I can say was that the localization of the hostel is really good. Close to a big tram/train station from which it's easy to get to everywhere. There are a lot of shops nearby if someone needs to buy something. The cleaning lady was super nice and she's the one who showed me where everything was. But she only came once as far as I saw. It's a cool idea to leave water in the fridge for guests - even if I only drink still and couldn't find anything for myself. Convenient to have a washing machine as well.
