The staff is nice but did not explain how to get into the building after the restaurant closed, resulting in me trying to find a way into the building at 1 am.

It's what you would expect for the price point. It's good, clean enough for me to not feel uncomfortable. It has a rustic character and everything you need for a night or two.

The floorboards were very squeaky, we couldn't walk through the room without waking the other. You could also hear everyone in the hall. All together, the room was rather loud.

We could book on short notice and there was plenty of parking space. The bed was comfy and a tv in the room is always nice.

You can smell the downstairs restaurant kitchen throughout the property. On two occasions in the early morning, the back door (which you can always open from the inside to exit the property, in contrast to what some other reviews describe) did not open with the key card from the outside. We never had a problem entering through the back door in the evenings after 10PM.

Our family room was spacious, no noise from the street (even though we were on the side of the road), the mattresses were a little soft but the sheets were clean and all 4 of us slept very well, all 4 nights of our stay. We were out and about during the day and spending time with friends who live in the area, so sleeping was really the only purpose of staying in this hotel and it served us fine. We did not take breakfast at the hotel, MPreis serves breakfast and there are 2 breakfast cafés at walking distance so no need.

In the morning I found my travelling companion had been on the verandah since about five in the morning. Having been unable to sleep, he thought he might have a walk, but found the door to the stairs locked. Neither could he find any night staff. This is actually quite dangerous. When he tried the door again, an illhumoured man appeared and told him the door was Locked! Grudgingly, however, he let my friend out, but then my friend couldn't get back in. Further more, the reality doesn't match the online photographs. Some considerable building seems to have gone on round the hotel itself, if the photo of the hotel is to be believed, making it quite difficult to recognize on arrival.

The food was good, as were the local wines and beers. The staff were in the main friendly, (but see below) and coped well with language barriers.

The problem is that the room did not correspond to the one advertised. It was stated 25 square meters, but I was assigned to room 12 that was only about 13.8 square meters (dimensions approx. 2.75x5 m). In fact, the bed could only be reached from one side, the other being against a wall, as visibile in photo

It really needs some maintenance work. Many features of Gasthof zur Post are nice because they are fitting and make for the nice ambiance. But technical things like the shower should work and don’t need to be out-dated. Staff varied - this could be a ‘one-off’ but staff-member that helped us in the morning was not very friendly. Staff helping us with the check-in and dinner was great!

We had THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. For 214 euros for one night, the room was far below what we expected. When we first entered the room, a strong cigarette smell hit us right away. The furniture was old and worn. Although the room was for four people (and we traveled as a group of 4 people), we were only provided with two bath towels. When we asked for two more, they brought just one. The bathroom was in bad shape, looking more like a public restroom than one in a hotel. We were still willing to overlook it at first as it’s just one night, but then the bed broke as soon as someone laid down on it. (See the pictures attached) We went to the front desk for help, and they called someone to fix it. However, while making a call, they made a disrespectful joke in German, assuming we wouldn’t understand, saying the bed broke because of "spielen". We were shocked by how unprofessional and rude that comment was. After the bed was “fixed” by placing two longitudinal slats under the frame (please see the pictures for their creative solution that seemed to be very precarious), we decided to leave and find another hotel. We walked around until 12:30 AM but couldn’t find anything with availability. We returned to the room. Although the bed stayed intact, the smell of cigarettes remained on the blankets. We suspect the sheets were dried in a room where people smoke. It was a very unpleasant experience at the hotel, and we strongly recommend others look elsewhere for a hotel.

The property was disappointing in several ways. The room had a strong, unpleasant odor, and the bedding was dirty, which made it feel unhygienic. The carpet was filthy and outdated, adding to the overall lack of cleanliness. There were no amenities provided, not even basic items like coffee, and the bed was broken, making it uncomfortable to sleep. Additionally, the room smelled like stale smoke, further detracting from the experience.

What we did like about the property was its excellent location and the stunning view, which made a strong impression. The exterior of the property was charming and inviting, with an appearance that seemed straight out of a picture, drawing us in with high expectations.

We missed at least 2 glasses and kettle, what should be standard now. And some socket near the bed where chargers can be plugged in during whole night (there was one, just in the middle of bed, not possible to use during night).

Ideal solution for one night stay. We got very nice room after reconstruction with clever details built (shelves to place things). Room was quite small, but room setup allowed for 2 people to place all things easily. Room was facing street, but it was quiet enough. Even Tuesday at 7pm restaurant was full of guests. Good value for price.

The hotel is dated and dirty. We booked last minute and understand price and demand, however it stank like old cigarette smoke. The decor was dated, yellow walls with latex and diamante studded headboards, a pillow that was like used cotton balls in a an old sack, duvets were old, thin and too small and the bed smelled like an ashtray, saturated in decades of smoke, which was nauseating. Coupled with curtains that didn't cover the windows. A huge mirrored wardrobe with more diamantes which wasn't clean. The shower head didn't attach to the wall and the shower was dirty so we couldn't wash off the smell. Not to mention the threadbare carpets provided no protection of noise for us against whoever decided to get up at 05:00 and steg around the halls in their winter Sport clothes... Before waking up all the kids on the same level. For 120€ a night cleanliness is a must, sleeping in decades of second hand smoke in 2024 is not okay.

That there was a room available after driving 13hours. Staff were still there when we arrived at 22:30

The stay at this hotel was unacceptable for booking.com standards. Our room had dirty bed sheets with pubic hair on them, yellow stains, filthy yellow pillows and even bed bugs. We arrived at the hotel late at night at around 12am so we had no choice but to sleep in a dirty room, and felt uneasy the whole time. For the budget price we paid we didn't expect much but dirty rooms such as these are completely unacceptable. The bed sheets smelled like they have not been washed from previous guests. Absolutely disgusting stay, very old building, we felt insecure at this location and the hotel should not be allowed to operate due to the unhygienic conditions of the room. Avoid at all costs !!

Rooms were dirty, no hot shower, very old. Only would stay there if you have a wedding or event nearby and just want to sleep a couple of hours instead of taking a taxi back home.
