Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaAs in most older European cities, the lack of accessibility is a factor, this hotel had steps to the entrance and was not suitable for wheelchair/rollator.
The location in the Altstadt was excellent, We could walk everywhere, especially to the funicular to reach Fortress Hohensalzburg. Very nice breakfast room and the food was excellent! Room was large and comfortable. Parking on site was very convenient!

United StatesParking is rough in Salzburg in general. Make sure you reserve a parking spot with the hotel. They provide good instructions for driving into the pedestrian area if you are driving. If you can travel by train or plane, I would recommend that.
I loved this place. I've been to Salzburg many times and this was the first at Altstadt Kasererbrau. The hotel is everything you would expect in Altstadt Salzburg. Everything is in walking distance including the castle. Quiet little area with a great Italian restaurant next door (awesome pizza). The rooms were larger than I expected given the age of the building. Really good experience.

IrelandShower in the bathroom was a little awkward for me. My leg was in a brace which just made having a shower manoeuvring into place difficult. Under normal circumstances, just a little small
Did not stay for long but liked the "old" feel to the hotel. Not a modern hotel that you can visit anywhere in the world and it will be the same. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was perfect for our visit. Breakfast was good. If I return to Salzburg, I would use this hotel

United Arab EmiratesWe struggled with getting into the bollards, and then we struggled with the parking. Upon arriving at the reception, there was no sense of urgency to assist us immediately, so we were somewhat frustrated, we were tired and it was raining.
The hotel has a wonderful cinema, with so much culture and heritage, and everything was within walking distance. Was a wonderful experience.

United KingdomWe had a very squeaky bed in our first suite and we were unable to move without waking one another up. We requested a move and were moved without delay to another room which was great. I could have done with a bottle of water in the room for taking tablets etc I did not see a water fountain in the hotel so we did have to keep buying water.
The Hotel was in a pedestrianised area so it was nice and quiet with great views of the castle and River. You could walk to the Old Town easily and we walked up to the castle too. The hotel building is old so there were some quirks to it and the Reception staff were very helpful with us when we had an issue. The breakfast was well worth adding to your stay as all of the food was fresh and delicious. There was a tea station that you could help yourself to by the restaurant and a vending machine if you wanted a snack (but it was expensive so would go to the mini market opposite). We did try the Austrian wine from the bar/reception and it was surprisingly good and value for money.

SlovakiaThe hotel offered a parking, but when we came the parking was full and we had to park 15 minutes by walk from the hotel (paid parking). The breakfast is not very rich and there is a very little room for it. We had to wait for a free table approximately first 10 minutes. The toilets at the reception were disgusting and dirty.
The location is perfect. The hotel is very close to the cathedral. The room had enough space for 2 adults, one child and also 2 dogs. The breakfast is served until 11 am, and the check out is until 12 pm, which is absolutely great!!

United KingdomThe rooms although clean and spacious, are missing some modern conveniences, plug sockets in useful places etc. The shower tap didn't work properly. Staff were friendly overall, but not overly welcoming - check in seemed more hassle than necessary, even though I had pre-sent the info. It also claimed private parking - but it was not part or even adjacent to the hotel, although not too far either.
Room was clean and spacious, breakfast was ok, there was a range of products from continental to hot breakfast but not a full range, and small area. Location was great, building is historic and a point of interest.
