Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United StatesNothing! I wouldn't change a thing!!!
If in Vienna, I will always stay here! Die Josefine's decor, service and location are outstanding. Beautiful property and aesthetically winning concept, atmospheric and unique with attention to period detail. Breakfasts were superb. Having the amazing Barflys in the hotel for a nightcap was the topper! Welcoming and warm staff.

DenmarkNothing, it was an amazing stay.
Beautifully decorated hotel, in central location close to restaurants, cafes and shops. Our room was at the 5th floor and was very quiet and with a nice view. Staff was kind and very service-minded. High quality bath products.

AustraliaNot sure about the bed design, thinking it is supposed to be a day bed. It is really just for one person, but it still felt small (and I am not big). There was no desk, which I didn't check of course. I had to work and used the phone table. Didn't like the scent of the shower gel, lotion and shampoo, rosemary, kinda reminded me of lamb chops. Perhaps give guests some option (I brought my own).
Location was perfect for me. It was close to 2 U3 U-bahn, walking distance to shops in case you didn't bring enough clothes, and nice independent cafés (U-Boot). I like how the design of the rooms tried to maximize the space. They have a phonotek room with a big selection of records for you to choose from and play.

CanadaNothing. Keep up the great work!
Everything about the Josefine was exceptional. The design, cleanliness, hotel staff, location, and the famous Barfly's cocktail bar were beyond our expectations. On arrival we were giving a handwritten note and complimentary bottle of wine - these little details make the stay so special. If you're visiting Vienna, I would highly recommend to stay at the Josefine!

United StatesThis is a wonderfully quirky hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. It’s location is out of the old downtown but there is an Ubahn station very close and downtown is only four stops away. The shower was delightful with an overhead rain shower head - hard to find when you’re 6’3”.

United KingdomWe were in a small room. I think we must have got a special offer, but due to health reasons my wife and I like the facility of a bathroom more than most! Our room had a toilet a shower and the vanity area in a line with a divide separating the toilet and the shower, and you slide a door over the area you were using. But there was no extractor so really it's like having a bathroom in your bedroom. But that is the only problem we had. I got in the lift, went down three floors and used the loo on the ground floor, even at 4 am... To be honest I feel bad for giving the hotel a 9, should have an 11 out of ten but I'd have liked to have read a review about the room size variations, so hopefully this will help someone. If I were in my 20s or even 30s I'd have no problem with the smaller room. The room was amazingly stylish and the hotel a recipient of the German good design award, and rightfully so.
Loved the style and design of the hotel. The little thought through touches like the note book, and book an a la carte breakfast, and you can eat it till 3 pm. For us, the barfly cocktail bar in the evening, became our last stop before bed every night.
