Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Hotel is in great location and rooms are very spacious. The staff was very helpfull with all issues. Also the breakfast had a wide selection and was very tastefull. It is perfect for a city hotel.

Note that the hotel has a rustic / old touch. That's a matter of taste. Otherwise, can recommend if you are staying in Vienna for a short weekend
Excellent location, close to the Stephansdom and the metro, and close (10min walk) to the dock where the Bratislava boat departs Room was quiet despite such central and busy location Varied good quality breakfast

Hotel Royal enjoys excellent location. It is very close to the tube station and walking distance to many attractions. The rooms are big and comfortable and the staff is very pleasent and helpful.Will surely recommend!

Nothing! Everything was great, I can only recommend this hotel. Definitely will come back next time.
Incredible location right on the center of Vienna! Nice staff helped us multiple times without any problems, nice large room with automatic blinds, nice sound proof (for church bells), breakfast was really good and tasty with multiple choices.

Shower area could do with a shower mat. Maybe facecloths in bathroom. It also appeared that the fan was not working (there was a cord to pull but it did not do anything).
Hotel basically fulfilled my needs for the stay. Breakfast buffet comprehensive but at EUR 25 best to have only if you are looking for big breakfast to start day. Heating and air conditioning controls seemed to work in room after a few hours when I found it too hot on arrival.

The hospitality, food and customer service at its highest level! I definitely recommend this place to those who would like to feel safe and valued while staying at a hotel. Every thing was just fine.
The Hotel Royal is in the historic Vienna City Centre, surrounded with restaurants, supermarkets, metro, stores, and steps from the major sightseeings. The room was big, no carpet, a good size bathroom, very good shower , fridge, coffee maker and tea in the room. Comfortable bed, pillows and everything clean and spacious. The staff were very nice and polite. I didn’t have breakfast at the restaurant, but the Italian restaurant was in a beautiful place in the hotel. I highly recommend and I will be back again next time I plan to visit Vienna.
