How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Private rooms are comfortable and quiet, staff are very helpful and go the extra mile. We needed help with an early check out before starting a hike, they made it easy to check out early and store luggage securely. The volunteers on hand gave us a hand in the evening after office hours had ended. The hostel is right in the centre of town, and it's easy to walk to the shops, cafes and bars nearby. If you're there to hike, you'll find plenty of friendly travellers to give you pointers, and maybe a few free gas canisters too!

I had to sleep on the top bunk for the first time in my life, I would have preferred to option when booking but hey I did it 😀
I was sceptical at first but the staff won me over they were helpful and it was a great place.

The stairs can be noisy and we were woken up by someone making a lot of noise as they went up and down stairs at 0400 in the morning.
Great Location with very friendly and helpful staff. We were able to leave our luggage while we walked the Larapinta trail.

An organised, cleaned youth hostel, with outdoor cinema cession for the night we were there. The kitchens are clean, and the place has all the facilities you would expect, including a pool, washing, drying machine, clean kitchen, large fridges... etc. Perfect stay before our start of the Larapinta Trail from Alice. Also very well located close to shops and restaurants, and if you are walking out of Alice to Telegraph Station to start your hike.

Some of the guests were a little inconsiderate of others and were making a lot of noise late into the night and early in the morning.
I loved this hostel, the layout was great, the pool fab and the staff were the highlight - Alex & Anna were super helpful and friendly. Would 100% recommend.

Showers took forever to get hot and wasted a lot of water, it was noisy with other people at night. Nowhere to dry hands in bathroom. Double room quite expensive for what you got.

Toilets could with a hand drier to reduce paper waste. The laundry trough & kitchen sinks need plugs attached on chains so they will remain there. We couldn't see any instructions for the washing machines but we only had an amount suitable for hand washing.
Matt & Anna were very helpful & friendly. The room was comfortable & the heater was appreciated on the cold Alice Springs nights. The cleaning staff did a great job. The kitchen was well equipped & has a spacious seating area. The location was very central & security was great.

Manager had VERY POOR People Skills. Almost no communication until last moment that facilities were to be unavailable after noon on day of leaving. ALSO 3 out of a set of 5 toilet/shower rooms LOCKED and Unavailable for 6 dorm rooms of 4 to 6 people in each. Kitchen facilities poorly maintained and barely adequate. Dorm rooms Doors BANGING when closed. Very disturbed sleep. NOT up to YHA hostel standards.
