Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWe stayed 4 nights so because that was less than 7 nights we dont get room service so we had to stretch out our towels till the end. Then in the room notes of what to do they had us clean and dry our dishes/glasses and dispose of our rubbish bin contents to the bins on the street. I thought I was paying for that service as it was not cheap.
Location was great, pretty good value for money, providing you can clean up after yourself.

AustraliaThe bed was way too soft which made it quite hot at night.
View was lovely. The water is rather brown which surprised us but it was still lovely to look at the sunrise every morning and listen to the birds and waves at night. A lovely walk along the beach.

New ZealandThe bathroom is tiny and could have done with a smaller kitchen/living space to give the bathroom another metre of space it needed. The room could use some modernisation but the view compensates for the negatives.
Great location with views of the sea. Easy walk to restaurants and shops although steep stairs (100 steps) might be difficult for older people. The pool and BBQ area is great. Super friendly staff and top value.

New ZealandWas a corner room which meant that the 'sea-view' was hindered and marginal. A front facing room would have had much better views and was presumably the same price. For the price (wasnt cheap!) when we paid extra specifically for the sea view this was a little disappointing
Comfortable. Safe. 2 balconies

AustraliaBeing “high on the hill”. While that’s noted on the company website I didn’t appreciate that you need to be a mountain goat to get reach the property - unless you have a car. I should have checked more carefully but relied on Booking.com which describes the property as “on the beach…. within walking distance of restaurants…” etc. Booking.com makes NO reference to the property being “high on a hill”. The Booking.com report on Amaroo is deceptive and misleading. The Amaroo website is correct and Kym was professional in dealing with my concerns and helping me move on early. Her husband has a “Pest Control” van parked near reception. I assume that’s for guests like me..🤣🤣. Sorry my brief comment is anything but, but I don’t think my “deluxe mountain view studio apartment” was 65sq (another review described it a “compact”). Also the bedside table was unusually bare - no lamp, no clock… No phone either but that’s ok it’s a holiday place. Thanks for your patience.
Nothing of note.

AustraliaWe didn't like the cooking facilities- no oven provided. Kitchen utensils, plates, bowls etc were cheap and light on. Tea towels didn't dry dishes properly. The couch was uncomfortable, decor was old and not enough soap was provided for our week stay. Bathroom was small and dated. Toilet paper was awful. Air-conditioner blew straight over bed so was very cold. Without it on, it was stuffy. The room set up didn't allow for our suitcases to be placed on a bench. Only one suitcase rack was available and both we had to put in the lounge room and kitchen area. Small wardrobe area provided with only a few hangers. No salt and pepper or olive oil provided for cooking. Had to go to the communial BBQ area to get some salt and pepper.
We loved the view of Trinity Beach- stunning! The bed was comfortable. We also loved the location- central, close to Cairns city to explore and go out to the reef, Skyrail rainforest cableway, Palm Cove and 50 mins drive away from Port Douglas. :)

AustraliaMaintenance issue - kitchen power point is dangerous as it not firmly attached to the wall. Reported to receptionist but she wasn't even interested to know which unit number. A text advising of noise from drilling would have been nice. For safety reasons the stairs to the beach as well as the path leading to them around the building should be lit at night. Vanity basin size is ridiculous for teeth cleaning. Heavy footed guests above were restless at all hours.
Good location. After hours check in very good.

AustraliaNoise levels exceeded levels allowing one to sleep Was woken early every single morning due to Chairs sliding on floors above me or doors slamming It’s was such a shame as was a beautiful place to stay Also wasn’t aware of long walk from car park to room up steep hill This proved difficult for me due to severe spinal condition (full fusion and spinal rod) and I was afraid of slipping over due to light rain on steep driveway Unfortunately for those reasons I would chose a place with car park level with building and somewhere quieter like where my family were staying

Australiapoor noise insulation. I could hear family in level 2 unit above and they woke me up about 5am. Sounds of furniture being moved and drill operating in ceiling ? installing ceiling fans at 8am. No water pressure in the shower. Couldnt really relax there. I won’t be going back but may go to some other property in Trinity beach if I ever come to FNQ again
