Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaVery little, the building is old so floor boards do squeak a little.

New ZealandGood location an easy relatively flat walk to city centre or waterfront, cafes and restaurants including Stillwater. Very good sized bathroom with separate shower and bath, good water pressure in shower, soft towels (we didn't use the bath but it looked very relaxing). Room seemed a little stuffy when we arrived, may have been able to open a window (they are sash windows due to age of building) but not a problem as room had air conditioning which we turned on. Good sized flat screen TV.

New ZealandWe knew we needed to be self catering - the room has kettle, microwave and fridge but a toaster would have been very useful.
Centrally located character property. Great view from our room on balcony . Very friendly helpful staff (Jasmine on day one, James rest of our stay)

New ZealandLovely balcony with a view of the city we could relax on in front of our room. Room was very comfortable with lots of room and had a spa bath. Netflix available on the tv. No issues with noise. Plenty of off-street parking. There is a guest lounge on the top floor, which has access to the balcony. Room had a minibar if you ran out of anything.

AustraliaBeautiful historic property. The restful balcony with views and table and chairs. Simple but functional rooms including fridge and separate small freezer. Big bath was a lovely surprise. Lift to get upstairs with your luggage but otherwise use the gracious staircase. James couldn’t have done more to help us enjoy our stay - providing great dinner and breakfast recommendations as well as ideas for activities.

AustraliaComfortable rooms. We had the deluxe city views with balcony. Walking distance to Coles, some restaurants and a nice cafe. Really good information from staff members on arrival. There was plenty of free parking. Stairs and 1 lift. It is situated 1/2 way up a hill which gives you gorgeous views of the city.

AustraliaWe are returning customers because we like the old fashioned charm of the hotel with its big rooms and high ceilings. The Auldington is in walking distance to town and the famous cataract gorge.

United KingdomNot too clean - the blinds were dirty, as were the window frames in the bathroom and dirty behind the side tables. Some of the lights flickered and the bedside light gave up.

AustraliaLocation good for walkers - I use a walker for balance and mobility and we were given a disabled park. This was very helpful and we were also given a mat for safety in the shower. The door closest to our exit was closed at night and early morning so required longer walk - and lift had a few quirks - but overall I would give it a 9 out of 10 if paintwork was updated and dust on blinds cleaned.

AustraliaThe hotel was slightly quirky - eg, bags of linen down the hall, doors that needed to be opened or closed in a particular way. It is about 1.5km from central Launceston and the Alexandra Quay area; not the most interesting walk. It is next door to a primary school, so there can be some playground noise - starting at 7.30 am on our first morning.
Quaint, comfortable hotel in an early 20th century convent building. Our room was large, pleasantly decorated without being flash. James, the receptionist/manager, gave us a very comprehensive run down on things to do and places to eat in Launceston.
