Great location Close enough to Kingscote but far enough away

The accommodation is in a beautiful, quiet spot close to nature—highly recommend staying here! Everything was clean, in great condition, and had everything you need for a really enjoyable time on KI. If we come back to Kangaroo Island, we’ll absolutely stay with Brett again.

Bretts Rest is a great location. A beautiful spot to relax and unwind. The cabin was very clean and Brett was a great host checking we had everything we needed. He advised us on places to visit and was even kind enough to drop us off and pick up from the local KI Spirits, definately going above and beyonds his duties. The town is 5 mins away, so easy access to get groceries and go out for a meal. Definately recommend.

It wasnt that anything was bad or we didnt like things, but maybe some suggestions to make the place just that little bit better. The bathroom could do with a shaving cabinet above the sink where the mirror currently is and some extra benchtop for make-up/toiletries and maybe a hair dryer for the ladies. An iron and ironing board wouldnt go astray either. It would be great to have a small electric or gas BBQ on the deck and maybe have a card table and a couple of fold up chairs that could be used inside to use for dining as it was a bit chilly to sit out on the deck at night.

The property is well located if you have your own car. The property itself is well appointed, the bed comfortable. The lounge was good. It was nice to have a largish fridge and there were plenty of glasses, crockery. cutlery, cooking equipment supplied. Due to insulation and double glazed windows the property is very warm and quiet. The property is large enough for a couple to stay very comfortably. We stayed 7 nights. It is close to the main township of Kingscote which is a few minutes away by car. Kingscote has a supermarket for supplies, a bakery, a couple of hotels, a few other places to eat. We were able to buy some fresh King George Whiting and some fresh Garfish from the fish shop to freeze and take home with us.

The property was private and in quiet location and within a short drive from the main town. It was comfortable for spending many hours relaxing in and lovely to come back to after a full day exploring. We were there during winter and some pretty hectic weather yet we were warm and comfortable. Our host, Brett checked in with us once or twice, and let us know he was not too far away if we needed anything. Brett was very accommodating and it is lovely to be greeted by his dog Chase.

We had a great stay with our foster dog at Brett‘s Rest. We stayed in June and the cabin was nice and cozy and the shower hot. The dogs got on well and Brett was very friendly and attentive. Overall a great stay!

Nothing, This place was truly the perfect place to stay.

I just loved the whole vibe the place gave. From the moment we arrived and walked in it felt like the perfect get away home. So cosy. I strongly would recommend this for anyone who is coming to visit Kangaroo island you will not be disappointed I can promise you that much! Thank you Brett I will be sure to book this place again when I come back to KI

Difficult to find the cottage. Address is Samphire Road but easier to enter from Burdon Road down a unsealed dirt road. The blue signage 'Brett's Rest' should have the reflector as we had difficulties finding the blue signage in the dark, returning from dinner.

It's a nice comfortable cottage with quiet surroundings.

Brett has done an amazing job but it just lacks some small touches - hand towel in the bathroom & kitchen; 2 bath towels per person, a box of tissues & a new loo brush (not metal).

The location; close proximity to Kingscote. The double glazing made it toasty warm. All the streaming services you could need. Clean & tidy. Brett very friendly & accommodating.

It was a beautiful warm cabin set in a field with wild echidna’s and birds. The facilities were perfect for a 3 night stay with enough equipment to cook meals. The bed and pull out couch were both comfortable. The dog (Chase) is very sweet and Brett offered to assist us anyway we needed and was very helpful. It was a very short drive (or medium long walk) into town and perfect for exploring the island.

Brett met us on arrival (along with his friendly dog, Chase!) and explained the facilities and cabin in great detail. He made sure we were comfortable at all times but never intruded on our privacy. The location is close to Kingscote and handy to main roads for adventures, but also private enough for peace.

Serene and peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle but not too far from restaurants , shops and the beach. Brett the host was very approachable and communicated prior arrival with great instructions on how to locate the property as google maps was not an option. Accommodation was clean and comfortable. Our small pooch loved the porch area which Brett enclosed for us with lattice. Loved sitting on the porch with a wine in hand absorbing the tranquility and serenity setting around us. Highly recommend.

Brett was fantastic to deal with before and during our stay. Comfortable cabin to stay in with plenty of space to move inside. Definitely recommend to couples or even families. Resident Dog Chase is a friendly dog who liked to visit and play fetch with you.

Excellent accommodation. Very comfortable bed (and couch!). Great size kitchen and bathroom, all you need for a short stay. In an excellent location, easy to get to cafes/restaurants in Kingscote and also to all the beautiful places around Kangaroo Island. Brett was a great host and gave great directions to find the location.
