Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Booked it as a no frills, one night accommodation and it was exactly that. Comfortable and clean with basic amenities. Pub closed, however, as it was good Friday. Great water pressure in shower. Bus stop across the road so easy access to Airlie Beach central.

Very bleachy smell, but once the windows were opened it was okay.

Rooms were clean. Staff were very friendly. We had room service a couple of times, for lunch and dinner. Food was nice. Staff were friendly and food arrived on time. So overall, very nice experience. Highly recommended.

We had a nice stay, the Reef Gateway was a nice place to stay, however, our room was old and outdated, tiles cracked, laminate bench tops stained etc. We had no interaction with staff except for checking in. Close to shopping areas was handy. Car park areas are small so if you have a large SUV or 4x4 you need several attempts to get your car in and out of the allocated space - it’s not the end of the world but a small issue. Overall a pleasant stay.

Lacks a pool but I was aware of that
Location close to my twin daughter’s homes for a short independent break and local facilities. Staff very efficient and friendly, especially when I had a burst pipe in my room.

The accommodations could use a refresh
The location, 10 mn drive to the marina where you can find main excursion departure. The staff, we had a problem with curtains and it was rapidely fixed. Covered and allocated parking spot.

The toilet couldn’t flush properly. Also the shower was constantly dripping… there were also a huge gab under the doors, so insects could crawl in. But we used towels to stuff under the door, that worked and the staff let us get extra towels. Also neighbours were speaking on the phone at 12am.. for a really long time. They were on the balcony, so we could hear them loud and clear.
Very spacious and nice location. The bus is right next to the hotel and is easy to manage. Staff was also super kind to help us with the washer.

This was further out from Airlie than we thought when booking. If you have your own transport, it’s a good choice. If you are happy to use the bus, good choice.
We had a budget room, with two double beds. This was one of the biggest roomiest rooms we have EVER had in a hotel/ motel. Plenty of floor space for suitcases so no obstacle course to the bathroom. Big shower , and although the rooms are a bit tired and aging the bed is very comfy and clean. Kitchenette was supplied with crockery , tea making etc and a microwave. Seating and table outside gave extra space. Whilst this hotel was a fair bit away from Airlie Beach there is a bus stop outside and buses cost 50c each way. Only needed to pay for taxi when leaving. Hotel shuttle bus runs afternoon to evening. Good staff, good food, big portions , big rooms.
