Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaNot offering a microwave and fridge as part of your room is crazy. Got told by staff to not cook 2 minute noodles in the kettle because people always do it. Maybe a sign to just include a microwave. Restaurant option is crazy expensive, min $74 per head. Which would be okay if the food was good. 12hr slow cooked lamb, maybe should have come out at 10hrs because it was dryer than the pits of hell. The salmon and the appetizers were okay. However for that price in "fine dining" I expect more than a pan fried salmon on some uninspired potatoes i could whip up at home. Staff were very poor, especially reception. My girlfriend called the reception to get the wifi password and was met with no response. We then texted the mobile number and got given the password only for it to be incorrect. When we replied back stating their password is incorrect we got left on read.... Overall crazy expensive, which on the mountain is expected. But the facilities, staff, amenities and restaurant are absolutely piss poor.
Room was clean enough, decent toilet shower and bed.

AustraliaThe general condition of the property is ok, and surprisly they don't provide heater during day time. I thought that we have paid for 24 hours a day, and it is normal that some family member will decide to stay in the room during day time. No heater on during winter in mountain seems quite ridicules. There is 1 day that the heater is not even on until 5pm, and we have to keep asking staff to fixed it. However, the heater is not working again at around 10pm. Very cold during the night, did not have good sleep at all. I have then tried to call the accommodation line, but no ones answers. Sent text message, no reply. Breakfast has very limited choices. cannot say much good stuff about Duck Inn.
The staff is nice and helpful.

AustraliaIt needed to be warmer in main restaurant and lounge areas - pathetic little tiny gas flame heater that wasn't even lit. No ambience. There was no 'love' shown by staff or the venue - no warmth or effort. Breakfast was average and they ran out of bread on a weekday breakfast. There was no engagement from the staff - they all seemed like casual transient staff who were there to do the basics but nothing more. There was no welcome, no advice or help with transport to village (they didn't know) or that we could ski on wed night under lights - so we missed out. We had to ask questions for everything and if you didn't ask the right ones, then you missed out. Our rooms were meant to be next door or close and we were on different floors. Overall, just no way it could be 4 star .... it lacked leadership or an onsite manager/owner type person. Basically, it lacked customer service........rooms OK, but service is what it is all about, especially in a snow environment when you are visiting for the first time. Not value for money.

AustraliaWe requested a fridge - the fridge had old food left in it & our milk provided was rotten (it was long life milk so it had to have been there for a VERY long time, to be rotten). We stayed on the second story, we turned our heater completely off due to being uncomfortably hot. We had a 10 month old baby who couldn't sleep due to the heat but we also couldn't crack the window because it put our baby at risk of being TOO cold. We learned the next day the heat rises from the lower floor so no matter what you do - you will boil without cracking the window. The breakfast included was tragic for the price of the accomodation.
The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was nice and new. You can tell the space has been refurbished.

AustraliaIt’s quite far from the centre of Buller. It’s better to have more information about village transportation when people check in.
The cost performance was very good. They have a room where they can store your snowboard and skis. Also also they have a dry room you can leave you wet clothes.

Australiathat as a loyal customer for 10 years and booking two rooms every time , when I requested to downgrade I was asked to pay more !!!! really !!!
seemed more like a backpackers hotel. no shampoo and conditioner when already in shower, watery body soap that I ended up using on my hair. There was hair in my bedding and on the towels in the bathroom. roof cracked in bathroom. I had booked two rooms and similar sooty in both! in short did not feel like a $400 a night !!!

AustraliaOur room was tiny.. like there's small and then there's tiny. We barely managed to get around the bed with our suitcases in the room as well as us. The bed was less than a metre away from the glass door that led to the common stairs outside but... surprise... curtains were broken. The bathroom was so small you had to lean on the radiator to use the toilet. What we viewed on the website and what was delivered were two very different experiences. Stains on the towels. A creaky old cupboard. The poor girl who worked the desk had no idea how to help us or what to say, so we just booked somewhere else.
Not a lot. We stayed one night instead of the 3 that we booked and moved accommodation (and we only stayed that one night because we got in late afternoon and need to rest after 4 hours of driving).

AustraliaEverything else was great. Dry room, staff were lovely and accomodating, they have rental gear at reception. Also a great price for staying at the snow. I would stay here again.
Location wasn’t awful. It was easy enough walking to and from the village centre. I think it was 7 minute walk. The shuttle wasn’t reliable on the way into the village. The room was pretty small, but I wasn’t fazed because I never spend much time in my room when at the snow.

United StatesStaff- Almost everyone, from check in to the restaurant (except the female Spanish girl and the male staff) were very cold. They told us we needed to pay an extra $5 for internet but said internet is “bad anyway”. Check out was strictly at 10am, no exceptions. Only one staff was at reception, handling check in, calls, equipment rental etc. No one explained to us how to get to the resort, from the bus stop. When we arrived, it was raining, and we were told we couldn’t take the shuttle bus as we had luggage. The Inn is 3 kms uphill so walking with luggage on icy grounds and on a rainy day, was not an option. Had to pay $70 for a rideshare to get to the Inn. Had we been informed, we would have packed duffels (allowed on the shuttle),without needing to wait (Rideshare has to be booked in advance) in the rain and pay a lot for transpo when there’s actually free shuttles. Location- far from the village, although there’s a shuttle that runs every half hour. There are better options close to the Village. Cleanliness- when we arrived, there was a used tissue on the carpet and no one bothered to clean it up. After skiing for the morning, the only area to change is a tiny and dirty /stinky powder room near the reception. Amenities/facilities: none. Bathroom only had soap and shampoo. No hand/face towels or rugs to wipe off wet feet. Staff said they’d turn on heating only at 4pm, but never did. At night though, since windows were airtight, and there was no air conditioning, it became very warm. Drying room was stinky and useless. Only a few portable dryers were plugged, to dry out several ski gear, shoes, clothes and socks of all guests. Pretty much useless even after leaving your stuff overnight they were still wet. Paid close to $1000 Aud for this one. Certainly not worth it.
