Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaMy skin was itchy from the sleeping arrangements. You have a bed fitted sheet and a doona with a cover. But my body was itchy from the sheets and had itchy skin rashes as I didn't look like they cleaned it thoroughly and that includes the mattresses as it seemed infested. The showers still had scuff marks and hair etc from the day before. Everybody was cramped into one room that is accessible to WIFI and the TV room was messy and looked like an extra storage space. The staff (well one who was training) was hospitable but the others were not very welcoming. I felt like I was cattle being herded into their facility. There was no mention of the bond on the information but you can choose to leave your ID with them and I was glad I had that returned on check-out. The lockers are old and mine was broken which meant my belongings were not secure and I had to improvise.
The location is right near the tram station and across the road from the Queen Victoria Market. It was easy to get around Melbourne CBD and visit the culinary delights and tourist sites.

GuernseyMy bed sheets were dirty, with yellow patchy stains on the sheets. Gross. Bogies smeared across the wall. Dirt all on top of the fridge. And felt like I was gonna fall through the floor everytime I got out of the bed. Full of rough people staying here, and was up till 3/4 am as other people were screaming, and playing music. Hot water in the showers kept cutting out. Dirty showers. Don’t lean on any walls or you’ll fall through them too
I booked a private room, it had a lock on the door. And a fridge in the room

New ZealandIt felt unsafe - drunk men, people who were suffering from mental illness and addiction in the common areas. The kitchen had birds flying inside. I had food stolen from the fridge. I surfaces were dirty and their were no tea towels. Also lots of paper signs with different rules on them stuck around the place that were tatty and ignored by most. Also no wifi in the rooms.
I liked that there was plenty of space to cook in the kitchen. I also liked the central location and "give and take table" for unwanted items. It was also great I could leave my luggage there after check out.

United StatesYou have to pay deposit for spoons, forks, cups, towels, keys..it’s so ridiculous. No Wi-Fi in the room, you have to go out to the reception area where has limited space and smelly, uncomfortable couches. They still use the traditional keys for the door locks and people who are not staying at hostel has the key and can came to the room without permission. This happened to me /our room. Their entrance door is always open. Sloppy people staying there, pictures included. That’s how the room looks like when I stepped in and I was not allowed to change room or cancel the booking. One of the staff was verbally abusive and threatening me. There are verbal fights breaking out several times between staff and guests or amongst guests. It is a mad house.
