The restaurant is a bit pricey, but the staff are very friendly and the tavern is visually stunning

The only thing I can finger point at is the outside windows needed a good clean to enjoy the water view.

Love the historic feel and staff were fantastic. Being Port Arthur water was not on tap for drinking but was supplied bottled. Meals in the restaurant were fantastic.

Very low standard of room furniture and fittings. I’m sure they would have had change from $100 for the lot.. They take a credit card on check in and then you can’t charge to room but have to pay as you go- why? Weird till system where food and drink transactions are separated even with the same server at the same time. This is stupid and annoying. Looking below the surface it is clear that this hotel is running on empty

Location. A bay view room has lovely views. Well placed for local attractions. Bar/restaurant attractive but see below

Nothing, first time staying there and would stay again.

Room was clean and comfortable, Staff were wonderful and friendly and we stayed and had dinner at their restaurant and the food was very nice and great value.

There is no tap drinking water, although bottle water is provided. Water is brown in colour. On arrival, I was told not to open windows due to insects. Mattress is very firm. Toilet did not flush adequately All of which took the shine off staying at The Fox & Hounds.

Great location, close to Port Arthur penitentiary site. Sea view room outlook great, beautiful scenery.

I couldn’t open the windows so no fresh air. Had to close bathroom door so the outside light wouldn’t come in at night. Shower was dripping so the shower head had to be turned upside down. Breakfast was average, food was pricey but understandable due to transport costs from Hobart. Stairs were narrow so large suitcases are difficult to get up and down when you stay on first floor.

Close to the port Arthur historical site. Good dinners and lunches.

Restaurant meal - I ordered seafood marinara. No mussel or scallop in sight!! But loads of prawns n fish n 2 peas which more than made up for it :). Needs to change menu!

The brown tap water that smelt but we were told it’s an area wide problem. I wouldn’t stay in the area again but would day trip it. Ordered 2 basic meals at the restaurant and they took over an hour, restaurant said it was because poor internet connection that they didn’t go through to the kitchen. and we were nearly late for a booked tour in the area.

The beds were too soft. The water was not pleasant to shower or brush teeth.

Good for a one night stay. The restaurant was average. The views from the room were fantastic. Easy drive to the historic site.

Kitchen and bathroom and in general it was dated, the interior of the room could do with a lift and some freshening up. The restaurant food was ok, but a pricey for what it was, I’d eat elsewhere if staying again.

I liked the look and the feel of the property. The view from the window was lovely. Loved how big the window was. Close to attractions!
