The rooms were in need of a bit of renovation. Broken pane of glass, missing light shade, few cobwebs from ceiling with a few spiders. Food at restaurant was expensive.

Location was good for visiting Port Arthur

Needs a BIG clean. Needs fly screens on all windows and a general spruce up of curtains and windows (most of which were falling apart).

Lovely old world pub feel and great location for Port Arthur and other nearby attractions. The food in the restaurant was fabulous and the service there was spot on. Staff all very professional and friendly.

Bed not comfortable. Unusual bathroom configuration (bathroom and kitchen combined and separate shower/toilet room). Overall quite awkward. Small TV with not many stations to select from. 11am checkout would be preferable.

Friendly staff. Great location. Big room with water views. Parking available. Free bottled water. Restaurant on site.

Recommend confirming if the tavern will be open

The day before our arrival the hotel advised via email that the tavern would be closed on Christmas Day (except for an buffet lunch offering for more than $100pp). This was quite disappointing as: i) the limited dining options and early closure were not advertised on the website; ii) the limited dining options and early closure were not advertised until after the cancellation period; iii) we did actually receive the mail until we arrived to check-in (by which time the buffet was basically over); iv) it resulted in us being unable to purchase dinner (because everywhere in Port Arthur unexpectedly closed by 3pm); and v) it meant we spent Christmas night alone in a motel room. In short, if you are staying mainly for the tavern, I recommend confirming that it will actually be open as the rooms themselves are just typical motel rooms.

The location is great, and the room was a decent size with a nice view (although quite basic as noted in other reviews). The historical tavern is nice, but the food is quite expensive.

We had lots of flies in the room. The outside lights shone in through the kitchen window even though there was a blind. The bathroom fan was very noisy and the light flickered. One of the bedside lights didn’t work. The curtains were tired and dirty. There was no seal around the door which also let in light. The fridge froze our bottle of soft drink.

Our room had a beautiful view. The water wasn’t drinkable so we were provided with ample bottled water. The bed was comfortable and clean. The towels plentiful too. The restaurant was good.

We went for a wander around the grounds and found a dumping site for rubbish they’d previously disposed of after renovating the units - couches, fridges - a bit messy considering they are in quite a pretty spot.

For newbies to Port Arthur, there is no township as such. Basically just pick something and go with it. This hotel met the needs and would easily accommodate family of 5 - provided a bed and had dinner on site. Potable water to cabins, but water bottles provided, so all good there.

It would be good if they did Breakfast in the dining room as there were very few alternatives in what is a remote and basically rural area. I doubt they would be at any risk of non attendance if they did, in fact, i believe they would be as busy as they were with dinners

it all went well, and the food in the dining room was excellent value for money, and very delicious. the beds were comfortable and the decor was simple, but clean and recently painted. Staff were friendly and helpful

The room has a fly infestation. If it wasn’t alive, it was dead at the base of the windows. Flies circulating the room, crashing into the windows or numerous dead on the floors.

Lake view and great location for those wanting to visit Port Arthur.
