Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The extremely rude and ignorant couple when I was waiting to check in, who encouraged their kid to scream continually. The reception guy was so patient and nice to them, but I really wish he had asked them to leave, or at least take the kid outside.
Location is fantastic. Staff are excellent. Rooms are a bit tired but very clean. Great to be able to sit out on the original verandah and watch the birds.

The man on reception was so smiley and welcoming, greeted us everytime we walked past but the lady that greeted us when we arrived wasn’t the friendliest or most welcoming. The room was clean however the bathroom had what looked a bit like poo on the wall and a bogey on the back of the bathroom door. I also think the $100 deposit you pay should be put back in your account immediately, shouldn’t have to wait over 1 week to get it back.
It was a really good location. It was a spacious room with powerful air con, a fridge, coffee sachets and a kettle. The man on reception was so lovely!

I am an aged Pensioner on my own and found it so very difficult to bring my luggage through the garage to the hotel foyer. The ramp was not safe no hand rail needed assistance with this task but non offered.
Location was excellent and the hotel cleaning staff very friendly and helpful.

The room wasn't really clean. Upon arrival, the bedsheets were dirty and we found hair on them.
Staff was really nice and accomodating. The room was quite huge and the bed was confortable. The hotel is located in a strategic central position.

I only stayed one night at the Hides Hotel because I wanted to take the train to Brisbane the next day. So I was looking for a simple hotel in the center. The hotel is a bit old, yes. But I wasn't expecting a Hilton. Maybe it was because of my room or because it was out of season, I couldn't hear any noise from the disco etc. You can just hear the kids in the hallway, so a bit more insulation wouldn't be a bad idea. The internet was moderately good. It could be faster, but I've had worse. I enjoyed the food and some tours. So I can't judge that. Around the hotel, which is right in the center, you'll find everything you're looking for. Restaurants, bars, supermarket etc. You can't complain.

There was a crowd of people under drugs in front of the hotel. Was quite scary to go back to hotel, though it was only 19.00.
Close to train and greyhound bus station. Big room.

Didn't appreciate notices concerning smoke alarm and threat of charges. Surely it is the hotel's responsibility that bathroom steam does not set off alarm.

Bathroom needs a deep clean. Bathroom floor and shower need a good scrub of tiles with bleach. Pillows were too soft. No facial tissues supplied. TV lost signal at night due to high demand on Internet.

My aircon was not working,so had to tell reception,this is a must in tropical Queensland so should be checked regularly not when you are checked into your room and then they get someone to look at it.
