How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Rooms are a bit dated but ok. Lack of nigh time meal options in Penneshaw, though that is not the fault of the hotel.

Outdoor furniture needs to be updated
Large rooms which were decorated well. The room was clean and the cutlery/glassware provided were a pleasant surprise (specifically the wine glasses were full sized and this was a stark contrast to other hotels previously stayed at). Noise was minimum and the location is great.

Several functional issues with the room. Screeching tap in bathroom, ceiling fan rattling at the only speed it worked and poor tv reception (was a bit annoying as a tennis fan staying during Australian Open )
Nice spot looking out back to the mainland with a very comfortable bed and nice linen. Pool seemed lovely but we didn't use it.

The studio doesn’t have a gas range or stove top. We were lucky to spend one night in a one bedroom that did have those facilities, which are great if you’re fishing. The staff use the laundry facilities so it’s hard to find a window if you want to wash your clothes. There’s also a lack of pegs.
The location was amazing and the property had great facilities. The villas were nicely renovated and well equipped. The bed in the studio villa we stayed in was super comfortable and we had great sleeps.

Lovely historical hotel with motel style rooms attached. Rooms were very clean and well-appointed and had views of the sea. The beds were very comfortable, there is a small cafe, off street parking, and a laundry onsite. The staff were very friendly and incredibly helpful, and even assisted with our ferry bookings. The hotel is in a great location with the Penneshaw Pub just a few minutes up the road for meals, a petrol station around the corner, and the ferry terminal a few minutes down the road.

The restaurant downstairs was not up to scratch. We had dinner there and it was poor.
It was well located in town and close to the ocean. The room was small but comfortable.

The kettle was very dirty, and it seemed like mould/ white sticky liquid at the base of it. Also, the water doesn't drain well at the basin, which makes it very hard for us to wash our face and hands as it fills up quickly. Besides, the bathroom was very soupy, so when water first comes out from the shower head, foam starter foaming which can be slippery.
Great stay. Big room and comfy bed. Amazing view facing the sea. Easy check in and out. Has everything you need (kettle, fridge, hair dryer etc.)

That the room had no running water after maintenance forgot to turn it back on. Quickly fixed though.
Really close to the ferry terminal, shops and restaurants. Very helpful staff

Pretty much everything was good. I have a daughter who has OCD so she checked every sheet and pillow and bath towel for marks which was a bit frustrating for me as I have stayed in much much worse accommodation.
On booking.com it said a garden view so was surprised when we were taken out to cabins at the rear of the hotel. Luckily the cabins were very nice, roomy and the bed was so comfortable. Bathroom was a good size and kitchen/lounge area was big enough for more than 2 people. IGA/Penneshaw Pub and 2 cafes close by.
